    Who is following him/empowering him

    The leftist media, I suspect.

Crazy clowns like Kory get ratings...and make the cause they are supposedly supporting (but the media despises) look bad. A two for one special!

If all these OC wingnuts would just be patient and let Alice Tripp do her thing, we'd probably have this by now.

These guys have no concept about how the process works.

    .

Tried that for last 3 sessions with complete failure. Plenty of history on this on this site, search Lone Star Citizen Defense League

TSRA does want OC, and I am sure they are cheering Kory Watkins.

An incredibly misleading thread title :(

It's a pretty violent reaction by the house. I don't really understand what's everbody just jumping the gun like it's all over, who cares about this navarez guy if he's going to be outnumbered by other votes.

And ... after 20 minutes of reading through stuff I've ended up being pretty upset because I have some of the scenarios rolling in my head how this could fail indeed if not enouhg pressure is built before it.

So ... communicationally speaking I'm already launching evasive manouvers and calling for reinforcements, hold on to your butts!

The basic fact everyone is missing is that idiots like Kory are what the general public sees, and they are the ones being convinced by this idiot that gun owners are like him! Wanna be lumped into the category of irresponsible, disrespectful, uneducated, sloppy and probably a few more adjectives? You will be as long as morons like him are the face of gun owners as seen by the general public. So, long as all gun owners are perceived to be like Kory, the legislature will be swayed and not in the way we want. When a TV station chooses to use Kory's you tube video in there report, you think that is a positive?

Just for the record, it wasn't OCT (Open Carry Texas)this time. It was OCTC (Open Carry Tarrant County). Both OCT and the new group, Lone Star Gun Rights have put major distance between themselves and OCTC. CJ even said he didn't like how Kory was being ahead of time and branched off before this incident.

Kory doesn't seem to see what the problem is so far.

    Also, Kory is a guy.

CJ quit OCT? The guy is an idiot, I got into multiple FB fights with him and his ilk over the whole thing. F'em.

After watching the video... :banghead: I have to say that "do gooders" like this are really screwing things up for the rest of us. We have to be firm in our stance to be heard, but we should not make idiots out of ourselves in the process! I get pissed off everytime I see guys carrying AK's and AR's on television to demonstrate our rights. While it may be legal, it causes public alarm and it was the public that called for gun legislation in the late 60's when Black Panthers started "patrolling" white affluent neighborhoods with their rifles in full view. The affluent started screaming that we needed some kind of gun control to keep these "scary people" from roaming the streets with "perceived automatic" rifles and our rights have suffered ever since. We are starting to see our gun rights make a recovery, but we have to be careful. The public is fickle.

Personally, I am for open carry, but I believe that someone should go through the same training that I had to do for my CHL. If someone is going to carry, whether open or concealed, I think it would be a good idea to know when you are and are not legally allowed to use deadly force. There was an interview on the San Antonio news this morning and they interviewed some open carry advocates. The reporter asked one of the individuals "How do you know if someone carrying a gun is a good guy or a bad guy?" His response was, "If the barrel is pointed at you, he is a bad guy. If the barrel is pointed away from you, then don't worry about it."

It is public perception that carries the greatest weight. How many times will someone who obviously looks out of place or "thug like" have to start walking up and down the street of a wealthy neighborhood before this raises panic. This video and how these guys acted at the capitol does nothing to help our cause.

Trying to join the OCTC Facebook Page now so I can troll the ever living crap out of them... I invite everyone to do the same.

Will you start a thread to keep us updated how it goes? Some of us are facebook deficient.

Itchin, it won't. But at least if you are law abiding and choose to carry, you will know when and when you can not use deadly force. Perhaps, you should have to go through a background check and become permitted to carry openly? It could be like a young person that has to go through hunter education before getting a hunting license. At least there is proof that the person carrying has been instructed on when and when you can not use deadly force. It won't stop criminals from carrying. Same thing as the CHL, only law abiding citizens worry about becoming legal. But like with a CHL, if you get pulled over or stopped by the police, you have to show your permit. If you do not have a permit to carry, then you face penalties.
