I've read some highly entertaining stuff about the Park Place Rangers. That "tool" goes way back: I personally saw a Houston cop use one on a "suspect" way back when (1968), so Maglites were probably used as a "persuader" since they first came out. ;-)
Yep, the 1960s -- those were the days...

Which one turns me into an anime ninja?
Given that the wife is not interested in carrying a handgun, plan B becomes plan A. Any pepper spray recommendations?
Thanks Sharkey. Given her health issues, Pepper spray is best option. I'll try Academy and see if they carry itRed Sabre seems to be the du jour of choice now. Better than nothing. Will she carry a folding knife and would she use it? I tell a lot of folks that carrying one in your hand in a parking lot or a sketchy place rarely draws attention and is immediately available.

Sorry, you're right; I didn't answer the question.Dunno, I don't work for a Pharma Co.
Sorry, I guess I missed where you answered the OP with a relevant answer.
So what is your Plan A? I just assume you sell the Plan B.
Just for you, I shall take the short staff tonight for the dog walk. I'm no Morgan but I can do ok. If that were to fail, the Kahr will come out.
Dude you really need to stop testing your product. If you can't see how I answered the OP in my post, well than you are a maroon. Psst, empty hand is less lethal.Sorry, you're right; I didn't answer the question.
Waitaminnut: you didn't either.
The thread is asking for "less lethal" options, and you're posting about your Gecko45 loadout.
Batons and wooden ninja swords are absolutely lethal weapons, and they're lethal to carry in Texas unless a leo or an on-the-clock security type.
Sorry, I just get itchy when people promote criminal activity.
I think I've got a pill for that. LOL

But hey, we both agree you didn't answer the OP so there is that.

Unless you're Chuck Norris....
Second for the pepper gel suggestion. I carry gel because my asthma doesn't like the blowback from spray. Gel might take longer to work, so I've heard.Gel spray may be a better choice as air movement plays a factor once the spray aerosol is let from the canister.
Bear spray and/or oven cleaner can be just as or more effective.
Lastly, practicing deployment is imperative, as is spraying in various wind conditions.
If your going to use Chuck as an example please do so with the 20 years ago disclaimer. Now he can only get his leg up 4"

As for bear spray (too bulky for carry) and oven cleaner (not reliable), I'd pass.

What's wrong with only being able to get up 4" ?!?
Would oven cleaner be an "unlawful chemical dispenser" if used for self defense?

I guess my plan B is being 6'3" and throwing pocket sand in the assailant's eyes
Shoot 'em! Help them get their miserable lives over with. Less the rest of us will have to worry about. Puts them out of their poverty issue.
And the only story the jury has .............. is yours!
Charlie, you're more right than you know.
They plan to kill you if they have to. That's a fact. The criminal that is a real threat to you hasn't just that day become a gun or knife wielding thug, he's been a while in the making. It's a series of steps to the would be killer street thug, and he's already been in jail for minor offenses and each arrest stepping up in scale. The night he pulls a gun to car jack or rob you with, he's been years in the making.
As a one time teen gang member in Washington D.C. I can say that less than lethal is a farce. Even more, it's a mind set that will get you killed. It's all going to be over in a few seconds, you don't have time to fool around with pepper sprays and tactical pens, and other nonsense. When you see his hand in the hoodie pocket, there's a gun or knife there already in his hand, and it's going to all over in an instant. It's already in his hand in that pocket. You need to be faster with yours than he is with his. Wasting time with some non lethal junk is going to get you dead right there on the street.
First weapon in self defense is situational awareness. That's plan A. Plan B is when that fails, or you were careless and some low life you don't know is closing, you pull your gun. Plan A is seeing coming and avoiding. Plan B is for when Avoiding is not possible. Then you shoot center of mass quickly.
We had a friend named Al that tried less than lethal. Al was some big black belt in martial arts completion and thought he was hot stuff. He died when the little teenage crackhead shot him right in the chest with a shiny little Raven .25. He's been dead ever since.
Less than lethal means the other guy gets to live.
Lawful for everyone carrying with a CHL/LTC:Not always. Lawful for LE or certain security guards with a baton card or as below:
