How can we truely discuss guns and rights without discussing politics?

QFT... Guns, self defense, and 2A philosophy are too complicated of subjects to not have some bleed over into general politics as well.

Causes too many problems and confrontations even threats of violence.

Then it's just a great vehicle to weed out the undesirables, right? Let people show their true colors so that we can tell them not to associate with us anymore.

I like the idea of it being a private sub-forum. That way the search engines wont crawl it, you can ban the folks from it that resort to name calling, and the thin skinned wusses can just stay out of it

If it does come back, rules need to be established on combativeness, name-calling, and all the decisiveness that it generates.

Those rules are already in place and some people will choose to ignore them no matter what. Additional regulation only restricts the rule abiding forum members.
