Mike-- Im still KIND OF up in the air.. almost 97.6% positive i'll end up in Creedmoor but until I finally chamber it, who knows.. and reason being with the ballistics being virtually identical for all aspects I am concerned about for my applications, the Creedmoor ammo has a wider availability for me and has a few more bullet options for hunting applications since I will possibly be using it for some long range hunting..

Kyle-- My LRA SC-II bipod comes in today! and no. that does not mean you get one of my Atlas's. lol.

Here's a change of pace. This is a Marlin 917VS in 17HMR. The scope is a BSA Sweet 17. The rifle still needs to be bedded but one just like it got me 499/500 and 500/500 top shooter match wins at 200 yards.

Thanks for the kind words! That stock took 30 afternoons to fit and finish. The aluminum cap at the forward end of the stock took two afternoons to fabricate as every angle is a compound angle..........that's insane! Got nothin' better to do, huh?

It shoots OK with the light recoil of the 17HMR but I'll have it bedded as soon as funds permit.

I reduced that pic of the rifle so much that it ended up as a thumb size. Then I couldn't figure out how to change it. I'll just post a bigger one here.

    Thanks, again, for the encouragement!

    Ill play

Nothing real exciting (if it wasn't a tac driver I would post it).

Savage model 12 .308. 26" stainless fluted barrel 1:10 twist. I am fixin to get the barrel threaded for a brake.
It is a factory savage adjustable trigger, if it didn't work so well I would change it...
Boyds thumbhole stock, I still need to bed the action. These stocks are amazing by the way.
    Hawke Optics 6-24x50 BDC reticle.

*Shitty caldwell bipod, because LS1 wont give me his Atlas and I am too cheap to buy one

I might look at that, im in no rush, I can get by with what ive got for now. Although I really like the look of the atlas. I think it would fit the design of my rifle better than the gg&g.. might need the gg&g for my l1a1 though.

ROGER- love the stock sir! What did you use on the finish?

Thanks! That was done with several coats of Min Wax with a bit of stain in it right from Wally World. The stuff dries very slowly so it has plenty of time to sag & run. I'd give it a couple of days to dry then sand the problems out of it and recoat it. When I finally got it right, I let it dry completely and hit it with 0000 steel wool to take the gloss out of it.

The stock came from Richards "Microfit". While the laminated blank was beautifully done, the routing left me a mess to fix. The inlet routing was out of position (like coloring outside of the lines) and when the router was removed in many places, it pulled the top lamination with it. I filled those bad areas with epoxy then corrected the inlet shape and sanded it smooth.

The barrel inlet for the Marlin Bull barrel was only 1/2" diameter. That meant a lot of stock had to be removed to inlet the bull barrel. The hardest part was that the partial action inletting was not on the same center line as the outside of the stock. I solved that by fitting the action to the stock, then working the outside of the blank down to agree with the action position. They left me a real "B" to fix and that's why it took a month of afternoons to finish.
