Stacking food is a great idea, too.We would have but we are buying a freeze dryer so we will have to wait
Definitely being able to hand over tubes of coins is a nice and coenient way for heirs to avoid the tax man.I did really well with silver several years ago and now converting firearms to silver. After serving as executor for four friends' estates, I know that the disposition of my 50 year collection is best done before I croak. Grand girls will have tangible investment grade assets without being taxed or dealing with probate.
I use Ampex or Rio Grand Silver BUT would like to hear about other options. Also will trade guns for silver
sdbullion, monumentmetals, and silvergoldbull seem to have the best deals lately. I'm always interested in hearing about other options, too.I use Ampex or Rio Grand Silver BUT would like to hear about other options.
Being a GOF*, I’ve watched Au, Ag, Pt, and Pd. Explosions to the upside are a lot of fun, but bear markets can make you sweat bullets. The cool thing about metals is they don’t require a counter party to say they’re valuable.I might buy at a 5 year low, but not at a 1 year low like what we are seeing now.
All my silver was bought at $5/oz... I might wish that I still had what I sold over the years, but what I still have weighs too much; the big problem with silver and ammo...Being a GOF*, I’ve watched Au, Ag, Pt, and Pd. Watch out for blockchain “currency!” If nation states turn off the internet, and they will, just like they turn off cellular, you are hosed.
For those of you who plan on burying anything, invest in some Ti. Find someone with a metal detector and try to find metals in a Ti sheath.
*GOF=genuine old fart
I think the 5 year low on this cycle was last year. It's going to drop again this coming year, but I doubt it will be as much as last year. You have to take premiums into account as well. When the price craters real physical starts to go up. Right now premiums are moderate. I think in 18-24mo will see another situation like 2011.I might buy at a 5 year low, but not at a 1 year low like what we are seeing now.
That's the way to do it. Buy it and hold long term. All my silver was bought at $5/oz.
Oh man, can you imagine if heat sinks were made of solid silver? Heat management in electronics would be much simpler. It's like Aluminum
This thread is great for it's historical context. I think right now is "last year", and next year will be "now"I think there's a little more room in silver, but not a whole lot. ... Last year was the time to buy silver. Now is the time to sell.
Agreed! Bought $1,000 face bags back in the day. The guy I bought from was delivering in Phx out of a Lincoln with the rear end riding on the axel. Those bags were heavy!.All my silver was bought at $5/oz... I might wish that I still had what I sold over the years, but what I still have weighs too much; the big problem with silver and ammo...

Face is the value of the coins relative to the value of the silver. If silver is $4/oz, face will be that or less... a $1000 face bag would cost ~$4000 and weigh about 54 pounds.Um, wut?
Thanks, familiar with face value, but not face bags, lol.Face is the value of the coins relative to the value of the silver. If silver is $4/oz, face will be that or less... a $1000 face bag would cost ~$4000 and weigh about 54 pounds.
U.S. coin silver was about 90%.
Yeah, I never bought a $1000 face bag...Thanks, familiar with face value, but not face bags, lol.
