I call Amarillo the North pole of Texas. I got stuck there for three days because of a blizzard when I first moved to Texas in February 2013.

After the '67 Ice Bowl, one of the Packers was asked if he thought they had had an advantage over the Cowboys because they (GB) were used to cold weather. The Packer answered - Nobody gets used to this.

Those that live in areas of extreme cold are more acclimatized to colder temps, but of course they also more prepared for those temps.

That urine-yellow coat I was wearing last Saturday was bought for a work trip to New York and Chicago where I spent the last couple of weeks of December and the first couple of weeks of January.

January in Chicago, walking between those tall buildings in the high winds off the lake, is downright painful. The wind hits your face and it instantly burns.

Some of the locals were walking around in hoodies and sweatpants.

Yeah, acclimation has something to do with it.

I've been wanting to go to Manhatten for quite awhile.
I just don't ever get the opportunity. I don't want to go alone either.

Go on the 4th of July, no traffic and much easier to get around, if you must. Been there, done that, have no desire to go back.

Weather has been all over the place up here in the last few weks.
Got about 12inchs of snow or so temps have been higher 40s one day then drops down to right around 0 mark the next.
Even when its warm out high wind makes things miserable, but it does keep bugs away.

Also for the people who think you get used to it the cold, when its -20 or lower it's not really something I get used to.
