Growing up in Chicago, I never had the chance to run around outside with a firearm. My shooting was very strictly controlled "Ready on the left, Ready on the right, ready on the firing line." There was no playing around. In fact, I got in trouble once because my .22lr shells had dumped out of the box and were laying loose in a paper bag! Safety was like the hand of God!

I also worked at Bell's Gun Shop in Chicago. They had an indoor range.

After I had some outside shooting experience, that background stuck with me and probably is responsible for a clean record of firearms use.

It is true that later on, I got shot at, shot at and hit several times and returned fire often. That's another story.

Nothing to report about non street firearms use, here.

How about a blow dart gun. So my friend and his friend played the shoot-the-dart-in-the-sky game to see who had the most guts. First one to run back to the house loses. I never played, but when I bought a dart gun, I decided to show my dad what they played. Not realizing that my gun was much more more powerful than my friend's, I launched the dart out of visual range. Took a second for us to figure out we should run to the house immediately...in mid run, he gets struck right on the head. I can still see my mom taking her time pulling the dart out as my dad stewed.

When I see the picture on my phone app the picture is only a half inch big. It always reminded me of this look.

From the movie "fear and loathing in Las Vegas." If you've never seen it I recommend it. It's a good going into the mind of a druggie.

I've never seen the show. The picture just reminded me of the h.s.t. look.

Not my stupid gun story, but I bought a box of crap from an estate sale. This was in there.

The win in this story is that Ruger gave me a free replacement 44Mag Super Blackhawk.
