Seriously, after all the comment, suggestions, and criticisms that were posted here, I did some extracurricular research and made quite a few calls to come to the decision I did. The last call just happened to be to a dealer, that also competed with the Bul Armory platform. And if I remember correctly, the company stared with an emphasis on the competition market. After a number of discussions, a few emails and a change or two, and I had a single stack 9mm Commander, and a 9mm double stack/2011 headed my way. And both of those for less than the price of a single Nighthawk or Staccato.

Unfortunately, they were both lost in that terrible canoeing incident I referenced earlier. If you were closer, we could go down to the river's edge and see if we could locate them to give you a chance to try it out.

I bought a couple 9mm 1911s within the past two years. Sold one, kept one.

I keep hearing that Kimber 1911s are defective is some way? But I love mine. Granted I have only shot around 200 rounds of 9mm through it, but it has yet to have a problem. Trigger is butter smooth. Accuracy is very good. Balance is really nice, and yes its the bigger one.

I'm happy with it, and spent under $1000 used.

Going to get the specialist once I get back from safari this may. Thanks everyone
Well let me tell ya. I have a hard time racking unless the hammer is cocked. Disassemble is impossible for me without the provided tool. Now on all other 1911's I can rack slide with hammer down and disassemble with no extra tools. When the last round is fired the slide release will not let go unless you pull the slide back a bit. Now it was like this out of the box, after 500 rounds or so that should change. All reviews list this as a common issue on the new ones.
yea I dont think that will stop me from getting one but that is good to know ty

I have multiple Kimber 1911s but I'm not really a Kimber fanboy. Just been lucky and didn't get a turd. My stainless 9mm LW government has been excellent since new. I don't remember the exact price but I do know it was under $700 brand new.

I really want to save up now and get a Les Baer or Dan Wesson.
