You were in school about the same generation I was. Latin was a required course in most schools way back when.
It is the language English is based on.
No, it isn't. Not if you put it like that.

Saw this on Drudge today and thought it relevant. How Boise, ID feels:

You can say that again....
Yep. My wife and I moved here in 1990, and now, we've been here nearly half our lives. We're pretty darn Texan by now.The fact that you may be a "native" Texan was not your active choice but an accident of birth location
Those who move here are making a deliberate choice to be a Texan.
This states the situation very well for both me and my wife. :beer:Funny thing about that - I moved here just about half my life ago, and all it took was a brief visit to really know that I never assimilated into the state culture where I was born. I feel I was born Texan, just in another state. The food, the people, the way of life (outside of the cities, that is), the culture all fit me - so here I am.
Fun fact - I was born WELL north of the Mason Dixon.
I went to twelve years of Catholic school and graduated in 1977 . . . so yeah, I was exposed to a good bit of Latin.I graduated in 1976, never took Latin.
Yeah; however, the person he was quoting/referring to actually wrote it correctly, so he spells poorly AND knows no Latin. :doh:He DID say mia culpa which isn't Latin.
Damn. You mad, bro?I was born in Texas....entered the military from Texas and ETS'd back to Texas.......now? You dont know shit about me.....so shut the **** up.
I like the quote “I’m not from Idaho, but I moved here as fast as I could”.
As far as migrants increasing demand/prices for homes, I have no answer.
It’s shitty for some, good for others.
As a migrant, I don’t welcome Californians bringing progressive politics to my home state.
But given the progressive political leanings of native Texans in big cities, I think folks should be receptive to folks who vote conservatively....the progressive birth rate alone is going to increase their numbers, and we need to counteract it.
The alternative isn’t pretty...

The conservatives tend to have babies and try to raise them.
Liberals tend to get pregnant and get an abortion so they can have more fun while complaining about how mean conservatives are for killing the planet by having babies.
Transplants from other countries are a different story.

. . . and then there was law school.
Yep. Senior class had 74 graduates.Mine was the only high school in town.
There were only three high schools in my hometown, but nearly 90% of the residents were Catholic. The HS I attended was more like a REALLY REALLY good public school and NOTHING like a Strake Jesuit. Nothing at all.Mine was the only high school in town.
