If I can wrangle some help this fall I'm going to frame in a 8x20 area in the shop where I can have a climate controlled area for reloading, casting and lure making.
If you're close enough to San Antonio I can wire and plumb it for you.

It's from midstate firearms. Built on an aero precision upper. Nothing too fancy. It was a raffle win a couple weeks ago now. I was just glad to see it came with a brake on it. Looking at recoil on this and it promises to kick like a mule. I'm guessing the wife won't want to shoot it.

Very good. I've been wanting a Thumper for a while myself. Can't decide on 45-70 vs 458 SOCOM vs 450 BM and in what platform.

I was torn between the 458 and the 450. Ultimately, the 450 and 45-70 ballistics are so similar that I ruled out 45-70.

The 458 obviously uses a 458 bullet so there's LOTS of options for heavy weight from 200-500gr this helps when making subsonic loads. The 450 uses a 452 bullet so you're somewhat limited on availability.

Thinking about it realistically, I don't plan on suppressing it. This is more of a gap filler for my needs as I wanted something capable of taking very large animals. Granted, it sacrifices range with a max realistic range of about 200-250 yards. I'm ok with that though seeing as how 5 rounds of heavy 45s @ 2500fps in 1-2 seconds should be more than capable of stopping anything I let get within 100 yards of me

I was also looking at a 375 Ruger as well. I still plan to get one sometimes for when I need to thump something further out. The energy on that round is amazing! But, that will likely be a safe queen until dinosaurs or elephants invade Texas.

Mine would be a range toy to ping steel and maybe a hog or two if I ever went hog hunting. Mostly steel though. I'm leaning toward a 45-70 but I also find myself losing interest in the AR platform.

I'm not a huge fan of the AR. I was actually leaning towards the Ruger in 450 bushmaster. The go-wild version has a 22" barrel and a nice brake on it. Plus it would match my 7-08 go-wild to boot!

I won this upper in a raffle though so I'm not really complaining.

Well $30 all said and done. The raffle was actually for a 650xl or choice of upper plus a credit. They offerent the 234valk, 6.5grendal, 450bm, 458socom, 50beo, and a couple others.

I chose the 450 upper plus credit which I used for an rcbs case prep station. I just bought 15± pounds of 223 brass that I need to prep so that's gonna be real nice.

Loaded up some 6.5X47L rounds in the new shop. It was kind of like reloading in the trunk of a Caddy because it's so full and cluttered but I got it done.
