Maybe you should answer the questions and not deflect.
if I must say it again, flaunting your service in x branch of the military just makes you look like a tool and saying you have a bodycount just makes you sound like an unhinged doofus, speaking frankly.

The M16 had it's issues in the beginning as well. Several factors played in making them less than reliable.

Even after most all the issues were addressed and corrected, my uncle who was in the Navy during Vietnam, still preferred the M14, while serving on a PBR.
All but one minor issue was caused by government officials who had a vested interest in keeping SA afloat

Any rifle action removed from a wood stock and reassembled can “lose zero”. It’s why many hunters started to glass-bed and/or pillar-bed actions. But it’s a fallacy that you are shooting 2-3 MOA with an M14, take it apart and clean it, reassemble it and suddenly you can’t hit a thing. Unless you put it back wrong.

It doesn’t matter why. What matters is at the time, the troops in the field clamored for the return of their trusty M14’s.

By the way, the M16’s main failures were switching powders (the switch to ball powder was a huge fiasco) and increasing the twist rate unnecessarily. But the point is, at the time, soldiers and Marines would have rather had their hands on an M14.
The powder switching was a government decision. Had that happened to the M14, results would have been the same.

Twist rate did not effect anything.

The love for the M14 was not universal

Something like that Sonny. Go back to your keyboard now and I'll go back to the reloading bench.
BTW we called them gooks, not jeeps.

My DD214 lists weapons I ACTUALLY qualified with and carried. Those experiences formed MY choice of MY favorites. I wasn't allowed to choose weapons from the internet or a myth.
This forum asked What's your favorite M1A? This old relic gave HIS answer.

    And who did that?
I'm referring to these posts as you can see.

Never had this problem with a M1A or multiple Mini 14s/30s. Sounds like fake news.
Well you aren't going to see it out of a mini, but you will absolutely see it. Thats why competition Shooters who use M1a's and M1 garands dont remove the gun from the stock unless the gun is being rebuilt

Ill respect people when they don't flaunt their military service as some form of "superiority" because they decided to fight for dow chemical and raytheon, but that's neither here nor there.
You think that serving in the military is fighting for Dow Chem or Rayeothon?

How ignorant and delusional are you?

Same way the M1 or Mini loses zero, every time you take it out of the stock, you loose zero. It is a very well known problem, and references to said problem date back to the US Army's experience in Guadalcanal, if not earlier.

Even bedding the stock, or replacing wood stocks with polymer or metal only solves half the issue
Minis dont lose zero when you take them out of the stock because they never had a zero to begin with.

Thuthfully, my Mini-14 holds it's zero fine though.

Saying "I've used both in the field and prefer the M14" isn't being a tool.

It is the voice of experience and while I would prefer a AR platform failing to respect those that served with both and prefer the M14 is being a tool and wtf does Dow and Raytheon have to do with anything?

War has always been political. Only a fool thinks otherwise. Get over it. Just because you are too lily-livered to stand up to anything except behind a keyboard doesnt mean those who serve this nation warts and all are somehow tools.

Every gun the M14 replaced and the guns that were adopted to make up for the M14's shortcomings all had longer service lives than the M14

Capitalism has it's pro & cons! I'll gladly support the Military Industrial Complex over communism & socialism,
capitalism can exist without the jingoistic ideals of the military industrial complex.

My enlistment contract wasn't with Dow Chemical or Raytheon, it was with the Government of this Country. No form of "superiority" in that. Some of us grew up understanding concepts like Duty, Honor, Country.
BTW - I enlisted for 4 years rather than be drafted for 2.

The question was about "favorite M1A" not opinions of best M1A

Some of us also grew up being taught showing respect for our elders, and having some manners when interacting with people. Seems some were lacking it in their upbringing, or choose to ignore it.

Seems being rude and bad manners is more common with the younger generations these days.

But I'm cool with it. Being rude, and bad manners, along with being disrespectful have been the downfall of quite a few in getting banned on this forum. Some are just too stupid to realize they are their own worst enemies!

@Tnhawk, Thank you for stepping up and serving sir. Some of us still have mucho respect for veterans and currently serving soldiers.
