With sausage it’s sausage gravy, with ground beef it’s SOS. Growing up yankee we did eat biscuits and gravy at home!

That would be sausage gravy. SOS is made traditionally with chipped beef. I think they are very similar, except for the type of meat used. Seasonings might be a little different too.

I was gonna point this out, but Axxe beat me to it!

Growing up for me, we did biscuits & gravy. Very rarely would we have SOS, which was made with white or wheat bread toast. Was raised by my Depression-baby grandparents. Grand dad was in the Army Air Corps when it became the Air Force. He wasn't a huge SOS fan, as he said he'd eaten enough in the service.

True SOS was also made with chipped beef, instead of ground.
