Which rifle did you get for $175
God forgives all who don’t use 30-06.
Savage Axis II with about 20 round down the barrel. Swapped my Vortex 6-24x50 FFP off the CZ455 (it was a bit of overkill) after I bought the rifle from a local member.
Eventually will put it in a MPA stock.
@Big Green and maybe @robertc1024 put rounds downrange with it at the spring meet. I’ll bring it to the fall meet as well. Don’t think you’re still with us, but if you are and in SAT, we can shoot whenever.
I should be at the fall meet if it doesnt overlap with a PA bear hunt I have lined up. If I see some ammo Ill bring it down. Ive never fired an Axis before either. Might lead me down an expensive path. I heard you can swap the barrels out on them easily
Well, you’re not alone. I bought a Savage 10 FCP about 6 years ago that has a heavy 24” barrel. Excellent rifle for the money. Shoots one hole 5 shot groups at 100, looks easy at 700. Never had an opportunity to shoot it further yet.Ok, I guess I'm in the minority here but I've got a Savage chassis precision rifle in 6.5CM with a 22in barrel. Sub MOA with Hornady Black ammo. I have a 20 MOA scope base on it with a Burris front focal plain 2-35 X scope.
The barrel is threaded and have my suppressor on it. Recoil on this 9lb rifle (with scope, rings, bipod) is about as much as a .22mag.
I also have a Thompson Center in 6.5CM suppressed that I took two Hill Country 8 point bucks less than a minute apart. After the first one dropped, the second one was looking around saying, "What was that?", that's when he fell. both were double lung/heart shots.
I feel like this was directed at me for trying to milk the old japs
I like the RPR, just never found my way to buying one. Shot a couple…good shooters both of em; they were both .308. I like the 6.5, but I like lots of calibers. I enjoy shooting Grendels a lot too. I like a .300 WM…they are a fun in a brutal sort of way, but pretty mellow with a brake. I have eyed the 110 precision a few times too, never shot one yet.Aged Warrior, I have on of the first Ruger Precision Rifles chambered in .308, and it does it job when I do mine, but the ballistics on the 6.5 are just a bit better, in my mind. I also have a Savage 110 Precision LE in .300WinMag when I want to stretch my legs out.
