Glad I went totally off grid 10-12 years ago. Events like this give me a reason to stay home and **** off. All of my solar equipment is in my reloading room, got to run the A/C in the summer but in the winter the equipment keeps it toasty warm.

If the numbers hold true, this front won't be much. Looks like 1-2 nights of dry, hard temps. Nothing compared to 2021. Trust me, I was out working in it.

The night my truck read 0, I couldn't get enough clothes on.

Can't blame ERCOT for all the Federal taxpayer subsidies that have resulted in too many intermittent renewables on the grid.

Legislature could create funds for building and paying new gas fired plants to be on standby, but rate payers will complain about the higher bills.
#TEXIT for more independence and a better future for Texans, controlled by Texans!

Just inflated all vehicle tires slightly higher than normal. I hate TPMS sensors. Neither vehicle have the old reset button but instead, tires must be inflated a few lbs over the door jam amount and then driven X number of miles before it resets.

Bring it. If I can survive it in a tent I'm Very comfortable in my house.
Same here. This storm is going to peter out anyway
All the same I tanked up the 200# propane. Raised the antenna to 30'. I now get all the big cities broadcast, Shreveport, and Texarkana. Grit and MeTV. Also have both food groups running around, Venison and turkey.

I wonder if folks from the North have these threads....
I have cousins that live in Siren Wisconsin. They don't worry as they are perpetually ready for power out situations. Oil /wood / gas stoves and heaters, and a shit pile of flannel. It's hard to tell the men from the ladies till they peel off several layers of flannel. Sometimes still tough to tell.
