    I don't know about over-rated, haven't shot most of the catridges listed here. But if the question were most under-rated, that prize has to go to the ol' 30-30. Inside 200 yards of course.

    Y'all are funny.
    Everyone knows that every cartridge has its place, and therefore the ultimate goal of gun folks is to own a gun in every caliber ever developed.
    That way, you can always come up with the perfect cartridge for ANY use.
    And if you don't need that perfect choice, wellllll.....
    You can grab any ammo bargain and have something to shoot that ammo in.

    Every cartridge is over hyped, that's the marketing part of the industry. There isn't a universal cartridge, they all go bang (with good ammo). I like the variety and I want at least 1 of everything. As for all of you snobs, you don't know what you are missing by focusing on just a few cartridges in focused calibers.
