    Thought about this thread when I heard the news blurb while working on the bike.

    Shootee has been arrested 3x since being shot.

    They shouldn't have dropped the charges, and that cop needs his job back. Too bad his rounds were not more effective. Cantu is a career criminal it seems that enjoys running from the cops.

    I am not a lawyer... this is just my OPINION...

    Since when does evading in a parking lot justify use of deadly force?
    2 wrongs don't make a right. I don't want that cop in my town, policing my kids.
    And then he apparently was not truthful about the guy hitting him with his vehicle... That by itself is grounds for his firing.

    6. A peace officer is only justified in using deadly force to arrest when
    the officer reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately
    necessary and the officer “reasonably believes the conduct for which
    arrest is authorized included the use or attempted use of deadly force;
    or [the officer] reasonably believes there is a substantial risk that the
    person to be arrested will cause death or serious bodily injury to the
    [officer] or another if the arrest is delayed.”113

    Nope. The cop was WRONG, period. The fact that the asshat deserved shooting for other things (both past and future) doesn't negate that, IMO.

    Holy 1.5 year thread bump!
    Should have used the line from Monty Python, "Now for something completely different".
