As usual I discovered too late Troy had built a couple retro examples of the early Spec Ops CAR15's and are now discontinued. The search process eventually led to this site after finding an XM177e2 clone build by member "Red Army".

My priority at this point is to locate a Troy retro XM177E2 or GAU-5/A/A but would still enjoy the challenge of building one or the other also as long as the parts can be found and aren't too crazy expensive.

This is my first post and hope to learn what I can, so information and comments are welcome.

    Thanks -

Our shift commander usually had a GAU 5 Colt but he was a 2nd Lt and I think our Flight Chief would have one as well. That was damn near 40 years ago...lol

They were the best for getting in and out of vehicle with.

Gun, Aircraft Unit..the Air Force and their naming system..geeze

Not sure about who "RA" is or was I found a thread about his XM177 build on the forum last week or so and appreciated his narrative. Moving on I'm glad to find some interest on the subject anyway of the SOG and Sec Ops early Colt shorties and looking forward to sharing info.

Thanks, maybe now I can finally begin to learn something. Actually I just rcv an H&R from PSA this morning and have been looking over what TNTE would have to continue on. Also will be looking at Retro Arms Works for any possible work.

Lots of reports recently of people’s CC info stolen on TNTE site.

If anyone's interested PSA has H&R XM177E2 stripped lowers for $160. I'd order one but they're black instead of grey for some reason.

edit: Cerakote C-102 may be an option to try and match - any thoughts?
