Oh, holy horse crap, here comes another media anti-gun campaign because of the shooting....

Liberals are also already talking up "potential for reprisals" against Muslims in this country. I think they got their perceptions backwards.....

Anyone talking about ANYTHING havin' to do with religion or heritage is premature at this point, IMO. We're just as likely to find a coward hidin' behind his religion as anything else. Let's everyone just sit back, relax, and see what the investigation brings out. Plenty of time to react once ALL the facts are known.

Although I *AM* callin' "dibs" on operatin' the trap door! ;)

ABC Nightline made the comment that because the victims were unarmed they were unable to defend themselves.

I am personally very shocked that the shooter wasn't named John Smith, Jose Rodriguez or Moishe Goldberg.

This weekend, when you are in shul, church or just having a quiet moment, please say a prayer for the families at Ft. Hood.

WWII had concentration camps for any and all who were Japanese which was a wrong imprisonment of many American Citizens who ultimately joined the US Military Services and fought for our country.

Lets build new concentration camps north of the Arctic Circle in Alaska and see how many islamo facist, wannabees join the US Military and fight for us out of that group?

It was Japanese, German, and Italian decent American citizens.

Imprisoning people is not a solution. Punish an entire group of people for the actions of one guy. Why don't they just ban guns too? Or put gun owners in concentration camps?

I'm actually glad the shooter is alive. I want to know what the hell his motive was.
    My thoughts exactly
And as far as his religious beliefs, there have been several reports that he is Muslim and he is of middle eastern ethnicity but like I have been saying all along I do have my suspicions that this was an internal terrorist attack but my gut feeling is hardly enough to call that conclusive. Sometimes people just go crazy.

This thread is mostly pathetic; however, there have been a few carefully considered responses.
    I agree!
As I stated in this post or another as we have more than one running on this topic; I want facts before I start pounding my fist and demanding justice. I want my anger focused on the facts not just my gut instinct.

I think it's way early to try to put any definitive attributes to the shooter or his motives. So many folks are trying to find out *any* information, much of it is bound to be wrong. As I said in an earlier post, let's hold off on judgement until we know more specifics. Yeah - I'll be the guy springin' the trapdoor if they'll let me - because HIS ACTIONS are very well know - but his motivation and any kind of complicity of others is not.

I'm no herpetologist, but I know better than to snuggle up to a rattlesnake.

Again - his actions are well known. His motivation and who (if anyone) may have aided him are not. So many folks are ready to attack the Moslems over this, and yet we have NOTHING to suggest this was an attack planned by anyone but the perp. It initially reminds me of the nuts that go around shooting at abortion clinics while spouting religious beliefs - if folks held THOSE kinds of actions AGAINST Christians, how would we feel?

Sorry - but nuts come in all religions/cultures/ethnicities....

What strikes me is that these idiots always attack a "gun free zone". Why can't our military carry guns on base? Nobody can deny that those people are definitely qualified to carry firearms and shouldn't be forced to be unprotected. Even if you let just the officers carry, how many fewer people would have died yesterday? A person is much safer now at Luby's outside the base.

Yes, folks are ready to attach the Muslims over this, but you must say, their reasoning is not totally unfounded. It wasnt so long ago that we were attacked on our own soil from Muslim extremists and we are at war with the same in the Middle East and our soldiers are dying every day. So, yes, they may be a little quick on the draw, but we not at war with Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Russian, etc... extremists. When someone goes in and murders a bunch of people shouting Muslim sentiments, its kinda hard not to jump the gun. As you know, we would never want to offend anyone.....

I'm not going to bad mouth muslims, however, I'm not going to turn a blind eye to them and pretend.

Would I walk through the inner city at night, alone and unarmed? Hell no. Does that make me a racist? I guess so.
