    Even if you ignore governments onerous regulation and the cost implications of that regulation.
    The market is working. Single payer won't work, whether you have a group of people willingly joining together to create an insurance pool.
    Or if you have a government entity forcing you to do it at gun point.

    When the user is insulated from the cost and a third party pays the market will collapse.

    If the gov is involved it is screwed, blued, and tattooed.
    So how many hundred thousand dollar hospital stays can a local church pay for?

    An 8 round blast of chemo can cost as much as $30,000. What "community" is going to pay that and how? To do so they would have to set up some form of shared system of healthcare, kind of like...Medicare.
    But you do realize only people over 65 and under 18 then, could afford to get cancer, right?
