Well, I returned today. I forgot to get some .223 yesterday and today this guy had his last 1000 rds marked down, so I snagged em'. I was lucky enough to get to park in front today instead of the back on the rocks (they charged 1 dollar instead of three since I had yesterday's reciept. And I had seen a SA 1911 that was in my dreams last night, so I snagged it today. Also found a guy with Daves Insanity Ghost chili Hot Sauce, so I grabbed it to try. I was looking for .40 cal but didn't find anything beating local prices so I passed. I was also looking for a .22 rifle for the boys, but instead picked up a Marlin 60 at Wally world.

My 8yo had to have this sign from the show, to go with our dog Dixie...

Oh, I agree that gun shows aren't what they used to be; but much like Walmart they are a "one-stop" place to look and buy at a whole bunch of cool stuff!

I think it is well worth the $5 entry fee to be able to walk around and actually touch and feel guns I am interested in. I only buy things that I know are a decent deal, otherwise I wait until I can do more research.

Also, I finding such local online auction sites such as Texas Gun Trader aren't as lucrative as they used to be. I have found deals on there in the past, but lately it seems the secret has gotten out and locating good deals isn't as easy as it once was.

Additionally, local gun and pawn shops haven't had any decent deals that I've found, and I don't have the time to hit them all up without advanced knowledge that there may be something I am looking for at one.

Still, I wouldn't call the SAXET show "poor or mediocre," I would reserve those labels for smaller shows with higher entry fees such as the Texas Gun Shows events. Even the Houston show last October was a disappointment, it was huge but not a decent deal to be found anywhere. The SAXET shows will occasionally have deals, and at least it is a fun way to spend an hour or two of my Saturday mornings once a month...

    Cheers! M2

I like the shows, when I am wanting to sell something..or if I want to touch stuff...And for the record, it's not Disney freaking World people, leave the strollers at HOME! seriously...Don't get me started...Austin needs to get off there Liberal ass and get a good show going again..This is freaking Texas is it not, come on now...I may have to check out the Waco show next go round...or even Houston...

The deals are there if u look for them. Most prices are not set in stone. I haggle a bit and if I am lucky I get a few bucks knocked off. If I don't like the prices I move on to the next table. The price of firearms are not like what they use to be a few years ago, and they will never be again. The prices of all things go up has the years move on. I admit I don't like the idea of paying to be able to park. But i rather pay $3.00 for parking fees than $300.00 for towing fees.

I think one of my problems is that I havent found the great deals that ya'll have. I dont get how these guys whose overhead is a van and rent on a couple tables feel the need to charge the same as an Academy who has TONS more overhead to cover. They are fun to walk around and check things out. There ARE some things that you dont see anywhere else, but as mentioned its mostly the same stuff everytime. Last time I was at SAXET it was so crowded there wasnt room to breathe. I guess for me going to these shows just doesn't hold any allure anymore...
Glad you guys are still finding the good deals though...

And I'm wonderin' your relationship to the "owner"....something stinks here, and badly. Hey Alan - I tell you what - IF they REALLY have signed up as a sponsor, I'll replace the lost revenue if you REJECT THEM. Just lemme know!

Looks liek their advertising. i wish others would read this thread before clicking that link.

oh well... it is what it is.

Yep. Obviously, the experiences of the members take a back seat to revenues. Understandable, I guess - even though I was absolutely sincere in my offer to replace any lost ad revenue. I guess the only other thing to do is be sure that everyone we know understands just how we feel about these folks that don't honor their words.

I know that has been some friction on here with a board member and Schluder Shots. But I don't know the the whole story cause I was not there. Like the old saying goes "There is 3 sides to every story". All I can speak for is my experience with Bruce and his staff. I was treated well while at his booth. Scored some great deals on a Stag lower and some Magpul gear. I will say that they do have a busy booth but they still took the time to help me and answer my questions.
I might get flamed to no end for posting this but o well.

True enough Big J....except that the owner and his employee have been to this site. First the owner denied the whole thing....then his employee came on and admitted to making a mistake. Now, mistakes happen - been there, done that, and have the t-shirts in every color you could want. But when the owner came on, he made veiled threats of legal action against the member who reported the issue and categorically stated that it did NOT happen the way the member claimed. Then his employee comes along and essentially confirmed it happened as initially reported.
That in and of itself is enough to keep ME away - for others, it's their choice. But if you think that I'm not gonna mention it, yer wrong! ;)

You have the right to mention it. Its your God givin right. I am just mentioning MY experince with them. Maybe tempers where high with both parties.. Again I don't know. I am not making a excuse for them. I just wish things can could have gone better for Texas Bulldog and Waffen. I never liked to see people get burned. But this work is not perfect. I work in retail I know the stress and confusion that comes with the job.

Understood, BigJ. It's just that I think we need to keep others' experiences in mind during our dealings. For me, you burn a friend you burn me - I won't do business with you. For others, if they haven't been burned, then its' all good - and that's okay, too. It's just that life has taught me that a leopard that hasn't eaten the lamb hasn't necessarily changed it spots - it may just not be hungry yet.

I'm with you Big J I have bought a lot from Bruce and I have always been treated great. Bruce my not have the greatest people skills but he his very Knowledgeable when it comes to guns. I've worked around a lot of engineers and most are not sales people. It seems to me that there are people on here that like to bitch about everything from paying for parking to vendors to kids at the show. When I need something and I find it at the show I buy it. I don't care about the personality of the guy who sells it to me. I don't need a reach around to make me feel good. Bruce's prices are as good as any on the net and he usually has the parts I need.

You are right that was my first post and this will probably be my last. I have been reading this forum for a while and I have never had a reason to chime in. But when did grown men start acting like women. Men settle there problems by confronting them, not hiding on a blog whining like a girl. If you have a problem with Bruce you should go speak to him face to face. You might end up liking the guy you might not who knows either way he can respond to you face to face and then move on. All I am saying is man up and stop trashing people on the net. If you want to talk, talk face to face. Get it all out then shake hands and move on. We have a government trying to take over our country, terrorist trying to kill us a media trying to control us and you want to bitch about someone was mean to me. All I can say is Really Really. MAN UP

...and then you have the newbies that slide in on their first post and "amazingly" find their favorite vendor caught in a less than stellar transaction...

I become a member before all that BS happened. So do not assume That I joined this site just to support Schludershots. Just cause there is some things that I don't agree with other board members that does not mean I have the right to be called out.

ummmm....Big J - it ain't all about you, my friend. You've been elsewhere on this board - and besides which, you presented reasoned comments. I was referring to the newbie whining about the whiners......

You need to go back and re-read this entire thread. Your "friend" Bruce came on here and threatened people, and was caught in an outright lie when one of his employees admitted to making the alleged mistake.

Plus, your "friend" Bruce was confronted "face-to-face," and he failed to honor a quote given by one of his employees. If he doesn't back the people that work for him, then he should expect such "trash talk" on local gun forums.

So maybe you and your "friend" Bruce need to "man up" and accept responsibility for your actions!

And nice first post. Hopefully it will be your last...
