Green tip ammo was about to be made illegal by the BATFE - it didn’t take an act of Congress for this to *almost* happen. In fact, it wasn’t until enough folks began writing their Congressman to complain and they started asking questions, that BATFE backed off their “redefinition” of what constituted “sporting use” for that type of ammunition. How soon we forget...

But it was not put into effect. You say because folks began writing their Congressman others say because the ATF realized they already had an exemption on the books for green tips and couldn't do so according to the law. Did they try to pull a fast one, perhaps, but they were called out on it, just as they would be in this case if they try to redefine a slide stock as causing a semi auto to act like a machine gun.

Don't leave the NRA, change the NRA.

    That's mostly my argument.

The principal behind this ban is "killing lots of people fast". That will bring down drum mags and even standard cap mags. Possibly even multiple firearms.

This in my opinion, is far more threatening to us than anything after sandy hook. In sandy hook, they went for the lion's share and the lion said no. This time, they've figured out that the lion doesn't bite back as fast, and lets the mouse nibble at the share, until the stupid lion realizes he shared too much.

We've let the mice take too much 30 years ago.

    "Change the NRA", I agree.

I saw a demo film on the net of someone firing an ar-15 with a bump stock. I couldn't tell the difference between that and a full auto! We as gun owners better be damn careful what we hang our hats on here as we could be in danger of having a whole lot more lost, instead of some plastic contraption. Let's face some facts here. To a non gun person, the bump stock makes a semi-auto shoot just like a machine gun, and all the explanations in the world to the contrary is NOT gonna change their minds! The damn repubs are just as bad as the dems, and will sell our butts down the river faster than you can work a bump stock!

The major difference is that the stock moves making it even more harder to hold target than even a fully auto. Giving in is what they want, don't think for a moment they will be satisfied with just banning bump stocks.

    What does this mean?

Gun Control in the Age of Al Capone
The most notorious gangland murder in the city’s history kicked off an early round of gun control at the state and national level, leading to a messy but beloved Supreme Court decision.

Once upon a time in America, owning a machine gun was as easy as this: promising to “be responsible for their resale only to those on the side of law and order,” according to a trade notice posted by the Auto-Ordinance Company, manufacturer of the weapons used in the St. Valentine’s Day massacre...

    No.

They lost their lives because one guy decided to kill them. If he didn't have bump-fire stocks, perhaps he would have abandoned his silly plan to make a getaway. Perhaps he would have loaded his plane with fuel and crashed it right in the middle of the crowd, killing 1000 people. Who knows?

I just know that a piece of plastic isn't important. There are bigger issues. The most immediate one facing us is that, given the spinelessness of some supposed 2A supporters, whatever bill is considered will be loaded down with a definition of what's being banned that's so broad, it will take out thousands of products.

Did anybody here ever read the entire text of the first Metzenbaum assault rifle bill from ~1990? I did. It was supposed to be an assault rifle bill. In truth, it banned all sorts of rifles, many shotguns, and all semi-automatic pistols. What came out of his mouth and the text of the bill weren't even close to each other.

I expect Feinstein to lie and overreach just as outrageously this time around.

I understand this, but you stated they are illegal.
That is what I was questioning.

The analysis in that article is crap.

I urge those of you who understand guns to read up on Miller. Read about the circumstances. Read about the way Miller's side was argued before the SC. And read the entire decision.

If you do all that and you know guns, you'll find your take on the decision is very, very different than that commonly accepted.

I don't have hours to compose a review of the decision since I'm getting ready for the TGT Family Reunion tomorrow. That will be a happy time (which we definitely need) and I hope to see all of you there.

Let me ask you this: Do you think that all they want to ban is bump-fire stocks and that's it? Read the bill Pelosi put out before you answer and then tell me if that's exactly what it says.

All that said, it WORKED...there was NOT one single drive by bayoneting the entire 10 years they banned bayonet lugs from guns.

Just heard that someone in Congress is mounting an effort to repeal the 2nd Amend...this is their END GAME!

That said, you need to know when to hold'um and when to fold'um and this silly piece of plastic Bump slide will only turn the public against us, this is a battle we can only lose and when we lose a battle it emboldens the far left to go for more...

OH OK, so we give ground to the ignorant, because we are afraid of the powerful.

With that state of mind, we've already lost.

There is a shit-storm of epic proportions coming, which is what I'm saying. There IS gonna be some form of new gun control enacted. I don't want to lose my damn GUNS because of a few IDIOTS that can't see the forest for the frigging TREES! This one is not gonna go away, my friends! The dems and traitorous republicans smell blood in the water, and thanks to the incessant braying of the "media", both right and left wing, there is some cretinous piece of shit out there that is planning as we speak to REPEAT this act in a short time! Watch and see!

You're afraid. That's ok. Don't ask us to be afraid with you. Calm heads prevail and that's why I'm here.

Yeah the klinton gun ban was a wonderful success if you don't count the Columbine massacre or North Hollywood bank robbery which both happened during that time span.

The NFA was a really unsurmountable deterent too. Seeing as Klebold & Harris made 2 unregistered Short Barreled Shotguns & over 90 unregistered Destructive Devices in their bedrooms. The Hollywood bank robbers converted their rifles to real machineguns, got picked up by state troopers and then released before holding up the bank.

What good are more gun laws banning more stuff when the ones on the books are already not being enforced?
