I have one of each bullpup mentioned except the x95.

To me they are just different days of the week.

I have no training to forget so I may be in a different zone than many of you.

The Tavor is pretty good but becomes really good when you install a Shooting Sight(IIRC)trigger pack in it. I've read about guys have success with an x95 trigger pack in the Tavor but I didn't want to try that.

My AUG has the 20/20 trigger enhancement but I heard from Pete Athens that there is something new coming and it will be phenomenal. Ok, my third AUG doesn't get the 20/20 sear.

Almost the best is my K&M m17s. The trigger is fantastic and it has an adjustable gas system for suppression or handloads. And it's also available in 308 with an adjustable gas system, too.

The guys I shoot with admit its a great trigger but don't like bullpups.

Another factor with short barrels is muzzle blast. It's much more pleasant to shoot 16" or 18" rifles. I do kinda like the fireballs my AR pistols spit out, tho

Sold my X95 after a very short time. Parts are harder to come by (barrels, bolts, springs, etc), everything costs more, I was never going to focus on just running a bullpup so I have no gross motor skills for it. Everything was slower to do, its heavy, yes yes the weight is all in the back, sling it and carry it all day, its just heavier. Its a bitch to do anything but a field strip and clean lightly. As something new and different in the safe its fine to me, but that is about it.

Heavier than comparable M4 by ½ lb...maybe a little more time in the gym...

While that might be true, and in all honesty, it is for those of us that have to think about such things, how many of us Really have to worry about running around in full gear?

At the same time though, IF I were to be standing watch all day, for four legged OR two legged animals, I'd much rather have a rifle that doesn't put as much strain or tension on my arms that a barrel heavy rifle, or forward heavy rifle does.

As with most things in life, it's a trade-off. And for me, this trade works.

When was the last time you rucked around anything? If you don't watch the ounces you'll bitch about the pounds... 8 ounces is a lot more than it sounds when its 100 degrees and you've just hiked 6 miles.
Got more time under a ruck than you got under a roof..
When I get back in town Monday got more land to clear. Got 2 Husqvarna 455 Rancher chain saws at about 16 lbs each, got 10 chains for the 20 bar.

Yea old man in his 70’s...well come on down and garb a chainsaw and see if you can stay with me...in your dreams sunshine!!!

To each their own and I never said M4, you have an x95 you love it, that is great. I sold mine because I didn't. But pretending like the logistical limitations and almost Rude Goldberg like design can not be denied. I can go buy anything I need to fix any of my AR's at an local gun shop. Can you do that for an X95?

So, in essence, you're saying me owning a Tavor/X95 is a piss poor idea because I can't get a spring at the corner store??

    Lol this thread.

As I mentioned before the tavor isn't my cup of tea. At the same time I wouldn't feel bad if its all I had. I think if the trigger was better out of the box, even by two or three lbs, I would have gotten it over my mcx. The mcx trigger out of the box is dog shit too; that trigger bar in the tavor just makes it feel worse than it probably is.

The problem I see is the ar market has been over saturated for a long time and its hard for new rifles to shine on the civilian market. As mentioned, its easy to find any replacement part for an ar15. Only thing more easy may be 10/22 parts. I still plan on buying a tavor or a Beretta arx for collecter reasons. I'm starting to get into odd ball stuff now. Like how I have my sights set on a 45 gap.

For my needs I could see turning the tavor into a good atv varmint popper. My current high mileage hoe is my ruger mpr for critters. Along with my lol-tec sub2000. The tavor would work really well with an atv in the country.

Thread title is pro / con of purchasing a X95. Just answering the question, its a con that you can not easily, quickly, and cost effectively get parts.

Its a piece of hardware, a tool. People shouldn't be emotional invested in a tool.

    In the woods...
I have not read all the posts and I'm sure this has already been noted, but in response to the OP's original question, I can build 3 nice AR pistols for the price of a Tavor. I'd rather have multiple AR's, with replacement parts galore, than one Tavor that may be difficult to find parts for if things go South.

Not sure the corner store in town has springs for the AR, but I'll bet one of the old farts who live out here in the woods near me have a spare AR parts kit or two. Tavor - not so much.
