2nd post and already b!%*chin? Gonna fit right in? Oh my.
If there weren't so many keyboard badasses and grammar teachers in here I probably would fit in just fine. But seeing as how the majority of the people are like you I don't see myself sticking around long .

I served at the same time as others in the Vietnam War. I am not eligible for most VA benefits because I was never 'in country'. I can't get VA medical assistance. What difference does it make where I was for benefits? I was where the command told me to be. I was part of the war.

    The dogs are awake.

Personal advice. No matter what. Stick to your guns and you'll be fine.

Not true. Anyone who served regardless of where you served is not relivant. I was in the Navy from 1974 to 1977. I have full bennies. You need to talk to a person at your VA center.

Thanks for the feedback. I was allowed college funding and VA mortgage. But, I couldn't get medical. I will take another shot at it. I don't have any disabilities to claim. Just thought I might have access to stuff I might need someday.

Well, you’ve got to file a claim to be determined to have a disability.

Contact your local DAV or other VSO to the process started.

VA medical benefits are not an entitlement for everyone that has a DD214.

    Not fully true

You are in 2 classes basically
    SC and NSC

Service Connected and Non Service Connected

If your medical condition is deemed to be a result of your service, you are Service Connected and awarded a percentage of disability compensation

For the question: Why do I see disabled plates on monster trucks? If you were disabled, wouldn’t you have trouble getting out of such a vehicle? I’m not referring to trucks, I’m talking the ones with 6” lift and 37s or higher..

Short answer: the state of Texas passed a law that says anyone with 50% or greater VA disability rating are entitled to the plate if they apply for it and provide proof of the rating.

    Long answer:

That law also entitles the applicant to a primary vehicle to be registered at a highly reduced rate and additional vehicles to be registered at the normal rate.

Lots of small things can add up to 50%. Sleep apnea requiring CPAP is 50% straight up. So is bilateral flat feet.

Get your thyroid removed and require synthroid everyday for the rest of your life and it’s 60% (assuming the surgery occurred while on duty or as a direct result of your duty).

The VASRD (rating bible and math formulas), created by Congress, spells out every medical problem and the allowable ratings. The kicker is you generally need proof via your military medical records that the condition was a result of military service.

Now, one can be shot through and through and get a 0% rating as the total scar tissue is less than 1 sq in, and range of movement isn’t impaired.

But then again, tinnitus (ringing in the ears) can only be diagnosed if you tell the doc your ears ring. Can’t prove one way or the other if it’s actually occurring. That’ll get 10% alone. But cancer, if in remission, gets 0%.

Don’t get me started on VA math, either.

I’m glad it’s there for those that need it. I had a family member who was missing chunks of his leg and required a cane to walk. I completely understood his DV plates.

    30 + 60 = 80
