Okay, now I see some cracking on the spare. Just stuck the camera under the expedition and snapped it. The camera sees what my eyes missed.

On the Ford's with the crank and a cable that lowers the tire. The problem is when it's raised and is right against the mount. (The mount is a section of metal brace that attaches to the frame that hold the cable wench)

The brace leaves two dents in the sidewall. It messes with the cords in the sidewall. In a way damaging it.

The only thing you can do is drive slow if you mount it. No driving 80mph on the highway. More like 50-55mph on the access.

I saw those dents. I thought they might pop back out after a couple days, but it looks like they are permanent.

Yes Sir. I believe so too. I've never seen them really go away either. Shallower, yes...but totally gone, no.

Makes it easy to spot spares among used tires.

That fancy hotrod sitting on the showroom floor...

Using the older Dodge SRT Neon as an example. The factory tires they put on it. Have a life span of about 15,000miles. That's if you drive it slow and straight.

High performance tires don't last for nothing. Job #1 is grip. Way softer tire then a regular, grocery getting, 4 door sedan.

Picked up the exhaust port gaskets. Phucking Killeen drivers are out in force. If they're not riding your a$$. They're pulling in front of you. Better yet they fully stop on the access and end up jamming the guy behind them. Then that gets pissed off. The other driver doesn't know what the **** is going on.

And I'm riding for my life.
    ....

Exhaust is suppose to be here soon. I'm going to ask the neighbor to use his computer to download the MAP on the fuel controller.

PZeros are shit. Replaced them with a tire that has a higher treadwear rating, but has more grip than the PZeros ever had. I still don't expect them to last more than 9k or so ;)
Some vehicles have suspension set up for handling that wears tires out.
That and driving style  The front tires on that car are very lightly loaded anyways. Especially under acceleration.

Man, I think that's what's on the camaro.

Them bastids' run $500 each. As such, I refrain from doing burn outs. That's something like $5 per second of burn out.

I'm gonna look. I know their Pirelli.

Sorry, I was referring to my 996 and the inside wear of the rear tires due to suspension set up.

Should have got the 20" wheels instead of the 21s. They are half that much for the 20s. More options for replacement, too.

    Yep...

    P zero heros.
The Neros have a slightly different compound on them than the plain PZeros, but I doubt they are much different. They are marketed to manufacturers as a cost saving OEM performance tire.

Yeah, they have to do a lot of trickery to make that Beetle handle well. ;)
My camber on that car is actually pretty mild for a track car. -1 up front and -1.5 in the rear.

I'd rather have Nanking extra spicy General Tso's tire than Pirellis. Especially after they went "woke" with their calendar.

This is my first experience with them. As much as I drive the car. I can't tell much about them. When I do. It's a third gear scratch on the on ramp. Going from a dead stop. You can hear them gripping the payment. It doesn't sound or feel like the price or the name. Unimpressive I guess Ill say.

They run a bit of toe-in, as do many mid-engine cars also.

Some guys have alignment shops tune this it, but handling suffers to some degree that may or may not be noticeable outside of a track.

If you want to stick and have a somewhat reasonable tread life, I've been pleasantly impressed with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. 30k rated, a fair bit stickier than the Goodyear Eagle F1 RunOnFlat 3. I barely got 7k to the wear bars on the Goodyears, and I'm at 10k with a couple thousandths left on the Michelins.

Still not cheap, but good tires aren't.
