What a stunning thread. Absolutely beautiful.
If you think the pictures are nice, you really owe yourself a trip out there to see it first hand.

That’s already arranged for the evening, tomorrow. Pray for clear skies. It’s been storming in the evenings last two nights.
View attachment 174219 ....... Pretty cactus (idk name) with Mitre Peak in the background there at the center. I found the hiking trail challenging for me, yet very enjoyable. We hiked two hours including rests. We will hike above Fort Davis National Park tomorrow, after swimming at Balmorhea State Park in the am.
That tode looks like he’s full and gettin ready to hit the sack
I was in Andrews last year, I’ve never seen so many Herny todes running around. They were everywhere.
When I was a kid they were everywhere on my grandparents farm in Lancaster just South of Dallas. Damn shame they disappeared.
Yes, I believe so. I've seen more and more over the last couple years.Love the picture of the horny toad. I hear their population is making a come back in parts of West Texas.

Can't tell ya how many hours as a kids I spent catching themAnother thing I haven't seen in years in the Houston area is fireflies.
Here in rural Arkansas they are now out every night by the lake.
Brings back memories just seeing them.
Kid next door going up was retarded. All the kid would put lighting bugs under their t-shirts say they ate them & they where glowing inside us. That boy had a smile that glowed. Can't tell ya how many hours as a kids I spent catching them
Ft. Davis, itself, is very interesting and pretty cool to walk around.
Ouch! Bet that taught your ass to climb better next time. XDIt's not very pretty when you are a teen climbing into a tree to deer hunt and fall butt first into one of them. The morning was spent picking thorns.
Texas is a beautiful state. Show me your beautiful photos of Texas.
Here's a shot from tonight. Sunset at the mouth of the Brazos River, I'm standing on the Gulf shore.
Taken with husband's IPhone.
Enjoy.
