Ok, never paid much attention to the TGT Supporter labels until this discussion. So I loped on over there to sign up, I've gotten more that $10 worth of grins off this site. Going along until it showed $1.13 tax on $10. HUH Someone 'plain that?
Are you sure that you haven't gotten $11.13 worth of grins?

Y'know, I was kidding with Cam but I wonder if that might work. Just brainstorming but what if before posting an ad, you had to have met with a current member? Lunch or a range trip would work fine.

That's not a high bar, is it? I mean, CodyK is pretty new but I've been shooting with him and I think he passes muster to buy or sell.

But now that I think about it, any really bad actor would create sock puppet accounts and create a real nightmare for the mods and the image of the board.

So I still encourage members to get together for any reason but as for making it a rule...

I am not sure this rule would make a lot of ladies feel very safe/ comfortable to be required to have a meet someone new from the internet... to use the classifieds on the forum.

Go armed and take a chaperone.

If your anxiety is such that you can't meet people in a restaurant for lunch, I don't think you'd be able to handle meeting someone for a gun swap either.

I wasn’t saying I was nervous, I was saying a lot of ladies would not feel safe when considering that requirement.

It’s not really an anxiety thing, it’s a common sense thing.

Regarding face to face sales: Sales can be sent to FFLs (as I can attest as I have purchased two glocks from someone on here and did not meet them face to face ;).

That sounds like looking for an excuse not to do it instead of finding a solution. Common sense is that a restaurant is a public place that people normally go to socialize, and you can always take someone with you.

One of the things that makes TGT better than other forums is this isn't just an ephemeral internet hangout; we do things together in real life. It solidifies us as a community. Would hate for others to miss out on that.

Apparently, it's a small world. A friend invited me over to a forum he frequents because some old friends are there too. Guess who I ran into.

There's no telling how many forums he's done this on. I get wanting to sell your stuff, and I get that forums like this are a good place to sell it, but there's a right way to do this and a wrong way. If the current rules allow this, then I agree that they need to be changed.

I feel that 3 months of membership and at least 100 posts (no one word posts) should weed out a lot of spammers and scammers.

The AUDACITY of that fella. Don't he know women and children are present? Has he no dignity? Posting a photo of a GUN for sale! No tellin how many people he'll scam with it... Hell, he may have killed with it. I wish someone in authority would teach him a lesson.

Most of the suggestions seem to put more work on the mods. Not sure that is the way to go.

I really don't think this is as big a problem as some make it out to be.

I find it a minor annoyance at best.

More posts and more classified ads is a good thing for the forum and owner and in the long run may bring more contributing members as well.

On top of that anyone willing to send money to a stranger on the internet should know better.

I cannot help but to notice that many of the members complaining or making suggestions are not supporting members of the site.

Truth be told, I'm a bit annoyed at bowjunkie myself. Who wants 300 Win Mag? 30-06 and I'll take it.
