Whenever someone would give me notice I would start interviewing for a replacement right away. I wasn't allowed to bring on the replacement until the other one was off the books, but I could set the new employee's start date to the next business day. I'm the only manager that I've seen do that; everyone else just waited. Seems like a terrible waste of time.I've always understood the 2 week notice to allow for your company to find a replacement and you help train that person. While I've always understood it to be that way - I've never actually seen it in action.
