I watched and listened to a doctor, I think on Fox news yesterday telling us what we should and should not be doing. He closed with telling folks not to stock up on N95 dust masks because they are needed by medical professionals and will not do the rest of us any good. He may be a good doctor but he sure as hell is a terrible liar. Why would they be needed by medical professionals - I mean if the won't work for the rest us, how is it they would work for them!

If you’re stuck at home and not encountering other people, then I can see where he’s coming from.

Because you use PPE as a system. The mask gloves eye protection gown and the know how and discipline to use and sanatize when donning and discarding.

Wearing a mask its self is only really effective in stopping the spread if the person wearing it is infected. So they aren't spraying out the virus with every breath or word.

Touching your face, and mask for that matter, with ungloved unsanatized hands after other surfaces still transmits the virus. Reusing a mask every time you go out is useless, you touched it or set it down or took it off with dirty hands etc. Its like a food service worker wearing their gloves hairnet or apron to the bathroom or just out of the service are then going back and using the same stuff or picking up their phone or glasses and not changing gloves.

I liked the guy at Sam's Club last week. He was wearing his blue latex gloves I guess to avoid touching something with his bare hands and catching Chinese Flu. But he's walking around touching everything and then grabs his cell phone and puts it to his face...can't fix stupid.

    Somewhere in Texas!
I have nearly 3 full boxes of N95's. Why, I am currently installing front doors for builders. Planing, boring and mortising the door makes a lot of fine particulates, and I happen to value my lungs. These are needed for my work.

Just got curious what an N95 looks like....heck, I've got a box of them in the garage from when I painted my old house. Who knew.

I have be trained in the use of protective gear and have worn it several times in real life situations that required it. My training was that wearing a mask is better than no protection at all for your pulmonary system as it does offer some limited protection against inhaling a pathogen; of course you need to know beforehand that the mask you are using is one that fits correctly and is of the type that offers the type of protection you are seeking. As for me, I have the personal protective equipment (PPE) needed consisting of full protective suits, gloves, booties, tape, masks (gas masks and N95 masks), eye protection (in the form of full face gas masks and goggles). I am not about to use them for this outbreak, except maybe the N95 masks but even those I probably will not use at least for now. This pandemic is not nearly as bad as annual flu outbreaks, at least not yet as far as we know. While taking some precautions - only because of my age and because I believe there is a decent chance that world governments know more about this virus than they are telling (as evidenced by their unprecedented extreme actions in response to it; I hope it is just political or out of unfounded fear instead of them actually knowing that this disease is potentially or assuredly much more dangerous than they have let on) - I still am not gong overboard and using my protective gear as I have it in limited supply and I plan only to use it for a known situation that would require I use it to survive.

As for touching your face, while there is a lot of good sense about it not doing so, there is also a lot of hype going around about that. Merely touching parts of your face possibly can but will not necessarily convey a virus into your system. Picking your nose, rubbing your mouth, picking your teeth with a fingernail, rubbing your eyes and possibly poking around in your ears are much more likely way to transmit it than touching your forehead, chin or cheeks although it is still good advice to avoid doing so because of the proximity to the orifices in your head.

Amazingly, while the medical experts are telling folks to wash their hands for like 20 seconds, I have not heard even one of them tell anyone to keep their fingernails clipped and to assure they scrub under their nails with a fingernail brush when they wash their hands. It was discovered many years ago that the crud under the nails was one of the major ways diseases were transmitted by the hands.

By the way, what makes you think someone would reuse a mask, unless in very short supply, and then only if they at least disinfected, if not sterilized, after each use?

I fully understand why medical personnel having these masks available would be a good thing. Him saying that they would be of no good for anyone but medical personnel is nothing but absolute bullshit.

    Master Tonic:

    -Galric
    -Onion
    -Ginger
    -Tumeric
    -Horseradish
    -Hot pepper
-Apple cider vinegar (with the mother)
-‎HONEY (mix in honey after ready)

Use equal amounts of each ingredient - by weight (except the vinegar). Finely chop the ingredients or put the in a processor. You can use the organic, non gmo tumeric and ginger powdered spices. Just put in what you think it would equal hydrated, however, the fresh stuff makes the tonic less grainy. Fill a jar almost 1/2 full of chopped ingredients. Completely cover with raw apple cider vinegar (with the mother) to within 1 inch of the top of the jar. Place the lid on the jar, and put in a cool dark place for 2-4 weeks, shaking the jar daily. After 2-4 weeks, strain the liquid into a jar, and squeeze all the liquids out of the ingredients. Take 1 Tbsp daily for preventative health and 3-4 Tbsp daily when ill or beginning to feel ill. Sometimes we just shot it back using a medicine cup, but the family's favorite way of taking it is putting the tbsp worth into many gelcapsules...so we don't have to taste it.

Isn't that the same exact tonic used in Wuhan to ward off diseases? Look what it did for them!

What I found today at Academy and Walmart near me. No 5.56 or .223 at either. I knew WM stopped carrying it. Was surprised to see 6.5 Creedmore, but I guess that is not exclusively an AR round. Not sure I saw any .22LR at Academy and not much 12 gauge. Academy only has one of the Sig Sauer 9mm and two of the Savage lower. They said they are not sure when they will get another shipment. The pawn shops are sure to be full after this blows over.

Do you have a link to an article that stated this?

Haven't heard anything about this and wuhan, however, can say that my wife makes a similar batch ("nan's brew) when someone in our house feels unwell and it works every time.
