Thanks. Although that is not the whole list, the rest is about the same. Overall expected deaths are down. Texas by about 5000 if my son's math is right. The only places that spiked were actually just around NY city. And most of those were in nursing homes, elderly care homes and those that were in danger of dieing from a bad flu year anyway. Even with the "covid deaths", or even as a contributing factor, overall deaths are waay down.
After the first few weeks, it was evident that those that were the most likely to die anyway were mostly those that were dieing. Add in the fact that many balked at giving meds that were shown to save at least some lives. It's a disease that targets one specific group of the population, unlike a year of bad flu, that is an indiscriminate killer of all ages. Which this year was on track to be.
It went from a medical disaster to a disaster of our own making because of media fear mongering really quick. Now it is a political disaster because those in power don't want to be held accountable for the economic disaster they created. Judging by the protests that are being mounted, and growing daily, I'm thinking come election time, if not before, a lot of them are going to be anyway.

Would not surprise me a bit.

Honestly, I don’t think this particular event was necessarily planned.

But I do believe the global lockdown response has been waiting in the wings for the perfect crisis event..and COVID-19 was it.

I think there’s some truth in what this gal is saying...the presentation she references can be seen online.

She basically says the government and Silicon Valley want to change American norms to counteract China’s perceived lead in AI, but the powers that be needed an event to start rolling it out as they didn’t think we would go for it otherwise.

An inconvenient truth is that if we really, really fast-track a COVID vaccination it will be 4 to 8 years before it is available to most Americans.
Yes, that is an optimistic SWAG.

Trump has blocked Fauci from speaking to our Congressional leaders about the basic scientific facts of our national predicament, not the least of which is the remoteness of a viable viral vaccine.

Fauci is a national hero. Mr. Trump, let him speak even if you find his words contrary yo your political aspirations, please.

The suppression of Anthony Fauci should be profoundly bothersome to the free thinkers amongst us who are troubled by science deniers.

If any of you want to observe that we are about to be directed by "Godwin's Law" I'll not object.

    You're a complete phucking troll.

In fact in my experience with deviant criminals I think you get some sort if unnatural satisfying thrill from it.

    You should see a Dr.

    OK.

I'm rather intimately involved with the COVID response in our local healthcare facilities.

But thank you for your impassioned response.

I wonder if you would call me a "phucking troll" were you to meet me whilst you or a love one were on a gurney in my emergency room?

    Spooky how quiet it is.

Hospitals are, quite likely, the safest place one might find oneself.

It's a misconception but patients are afraid of hospitals right now.

    Last week was terribly slow.
This week opened up to most surgical procedures so things picked up a good bit. Still pretty quiet in the halls. I did several operative procedures this week that would have been disallowed for the last several weeks. Greg Abbott and the TMB got their act together quite efficiently.

This is purely an anecdote based on feedback from one of my EMT buddies but he observes that people are afraid to call for medical evaluation when they have symptoms if myocardial ischemia. They stay at home and die of a STEMI that would have been treatable.

But what about the millions of patients and deaths you predicted?

I thought you would be over run by now.......

Cliff, I would soon rather let a vet work on me before a quack like you ever put a finger on me or a loved one!

And if I knew it was you for a fact, trying to administer medical help to me, YOU'RE the one who would need a gurney!

I'm still waiting for some random Friday in March that we will say were the good ol days.

But evidently consultants personally greet patients on gurneys now. Lmfao.

    Puzzled?

    Yes.
When I'm called to the ED I then see, evaluate and examine a patient in an ED bed (gurney if you will).

Your point is lost on that fact.

    Anyway....
I have a cousin I've become reaquainted with.
He has my great grand dads 30WCF and an old savage .22lr and no modern firearms.
I'm loading my truck to go shooting with him 9AM and will enlighten him about several suppressors and several of my favorite nitrocellulose powered toys. 5 rifles and 3 pistols and apropos ammo.

    g'nite

Back in a day or several

Internet anonymity? Seriously Cliff? Trust me, I'm not anonymous if you really want to know me!

I'll insult you to your face just as quick as I do online!

I'll call your bluff, because you threw that out there trying to bluff people. Put up, or shut up Cliff!

And a lot of the blame for that could be laid at the feet of irrational medical professionals perpetuating the hysteria.
