Eggs for breakfast everyday. Beans, ribs, sausage, with bread and potatoes. Repeated all last week and until Tuesday. Then wife got off furlough, so broke out the porterhouse with green beans and corn.

I made a big pot of taco soup Tuesday evening. Leftovers for a couple of days. The wife picked ip two bags of corn chips to go with it, but tonight, I'm going to make some homemade cornbread to go with it. Top it with some diced fresh onions, shredded pepper jack cheese, and some sliced jalapenos. Butt warmer!

The wife is back to work. Dinner last night and breakfast this morning is a can of ranch beans.

    Oh the humanity.

I'm eyeing a chili's triple plate of sausage, brisket and ribs with toast and corn on cob for tonight. Now I just gotta figure out how to finagle one.

Last night was the first time in well over a month since the wife and I went out to eat. Sonic and Whataburger don't count!

It was refreshing and liberating! We ordered our meal, sat and talked, and had a very enjoyable evening last night. Things felt normal. I like feeling normal, and a free citizen.

No going out to eat for me. I cooked Skye & myself a scrumptious little dinner today: Boneless leg of lamb medium rare to medium depending on which piece you got, brown rice with wild rice and quinoa, a vegetable medley, and a quasi-freshly baked loaf of sour dough bread (one of those partly baked that you pop in the over for about 10 minutes to finish it off). All that washed down with Pilsner Urquel while watching the Duke in Fort Apache.

Skye probably enjoyed it more than me if only because I could barely taste it. Taste buds have been not so good lately, they just about completely go on the Fritz now and then; has been a problem ever since radiation therapy back in 2011. It took two years before I could taste cherries, my favorite fruit, at all back then. Nowadays sometimes I can taste things okay and other days I taste almost nothing of some foods; today was an in between kind of a day. Oh well, it was tender & juicy and what I could taste of it was delicious but judging by how the mongrel wolfed it down, mixed in with her dry food, it was the best leg of lamb ever. Only wish my son could have made it here this weekend to enjoy it with us.

Fresh caught, on a late spring day, black bass filet, rolled in Cajun seasoned flour/egg wash, fresh out of Lake Hamilton, Mid America, USA.

Didn't last long enough to take a photo ... about the only thing that comes close would be a boat load of red snapper from 50 miles offshore Louisiana/Texas ... well, maybe some gigged flounder from Galveston Bay.

    Getting hungry again typing ...

Fresh caught red snapper is about as good as it gets in my book.

Never have liked left over lamb all that much but had several smaller pieces of it today and it was delicious. The taste buds are working pretty good this morning and they enjoyed every morsel. Add to that - bread was heavily buttered & delicious, the OJ was excellent, the coffee was black as hell and the aroma as strong as the most tempting thing the devil ever offered but the taste was heavenly. A better breakfast I have not had in a long time.

Skye, laid down next to me awaiting a something. She does not beg, just either sits or lays down and hopes. I waited to finish mine, then cut some up for her and put it in with her dry food instead of adding some canned as I often do. Added a little warm water to make a bit of a gravy by letting it sit for a bit and then stirring it up. Then let her go at it. She went at it like a dire wolf that had not eaten in a month likely would have gone at a giant sloth!
