We need a new law. All government officials must pay for security services out of PERSONAL funds.
    ...

The law needs to be term limits. That way the ones in charge can't get rich and vote themselves all the benefits because they'll only be elected for the short term. I think 8 years is fine, but we should be able to vote on keeping them or getting rid of them every year.

Then only the ones who truly want to serve will be there. For Potus, the 2 term max of 4 years each is fine due to the international aspect.

So it looks like Governor Dip Shit is going to use DPS resources to help Austin. This of course means those that were previously getting those DPS resources will now go without.

That jackass needs to not do that and instead tell the citizens of the people’s democratic republic of Austin that if they want a police force, miss the time to start recall efforts.

I thought an experiment was something you did to see what would happen. That’s not the case here.

What’s it called when you do something even though you KNOW what will happen?

This isn’t so much about the police. It’s about tearing down the structure of our society through anarchy.

it is called a program. and it seems you are correct as to the program's purpose

    oldag,

My idea is that the DPS takes over Austin policing & the city pays for DPS for doing it. - Withholding the cost of the DPS from Austin's 'state aid' would work too.

    yours, tex

Let them eat cake. The citizens have a path to stop all this madness.

Y'all figure out how to garner the support I'll volunteer to run for city council. I'm tired of all the douche baggery. Not sure how much use I would be with the rest of the council being dems though.

It all starts with 1 voice in the wilderness. THAT is how the left has been doing it for 50 years. They never stop and they never will. Therefore we cannot stop.

    Yep.

The "compromising" for the past 60 years has consisted of conservatives giving up ground. The liberals have just continued to take and take. Time for a line in the sand.

I have to disagree to a point. There really never has been "compromise" in the true meaning of the word. Real compromise is when both, or all parties reach an agreement, or settlement that is mutually beneficial to to both, or all parties.

Conservatives, and gun owners have never really compromised, but have given, but never gotten in return. There never has been any mutual benefit for both parties in the settlement.

The time to draw a line in the sand may be gone already. Maybe that time was decades ago, by our parents and grandparents, and we are now paying the price for their decisions. And what line, and where, and by whom? As individuals, or collectively? It makes for a nice slogan, but what does it mean? And so what if we do decide to draw that line? Then what? What price are we willing to pay when that line is crossed? Imprisonment? Serious bodily injury? Death? And while the sacrifice may be very noble, but for what does it serve a purpose for? Does it change anything?

I drew my line in the sand many years ago. Where that line is, is my business. Very, very few people even know where it's at. Simply because I know that for the very most part, I don't, and can't trust many people to have my back when things get a little rough. I have learned that many people like to give lip service to such sentiments, but when things start to get critical, they tend to bail on you, citing all sorts of excuses or reasons they can't cover your back anymore. I have been stabbed in the back, and left hanging, by so-called friends at critical times. And by it's own design, it's left me cynical and lacking of trust in other people.

Just my thoughts on the matter.
