I have the Glock 40, I carry it as my back up when I hunt pigs. It does the job just fine. I want a 1911 in 10mm also just haven't decided which one.

I need a 10mm handgun. Which one do you like?

Being sophisticated, I lean towards the Glock 40. I am open to suggestions.
I have to G40, G20 and a Rock Island 1911 steel frame. I live in Montana now and find the one that spends the most time in my holster is the G20, the higher capacity and shorter barrel makes it faster houtof the holster and on target. For the bears around here that’s important. The extra barrel on the G40 only buys me an extra 25fps with 180 bullets.

I just bought a Springfield TRP operator with the Trijicon RMR...my first 5 shots two holes in the target a flier at about an inch off and then one jagged hole. WOW! And I now have 13 boxes of Sig Elite at $35 a box. Cheaper than 9’s

Which Underwood bullet/loading do you like and why? I'm looking at them now.
I like the 155 gr XTP and the 180 gr Bonded JHP. The 155 gr XTP don't fragment at 1500 fps, whereas I've heard the 155 gr JHP Bonded tend to fragment at the higher velocities. The 180 gr bonded JHP holds together well at 1300 fps. Underwood used to use Gold Dots for their bonded JHP rounds. Don't know if that is still true. Doesn't matter, looks like they are sold out of everything except the Extreme Defenders.

That’s the reason I tend to lean towards glocks. Round count. I do like 1911’s but I do wish they held more rounds. I have a kimber that sits in the safe

The point I was actually trying to make was don't buy yourself a 10mm, then go and buy off the shelf, weak ass ammo.
Get yourself something loaded to actually 10mm specs.

Yep. Most of the off the shelf stuff is basically 40 S&W +P at best. Underwood and Buffalo Bore load 10mm to it's fullest potential. I reload my own because that ammo can get expensive. I use blue dot and 180ish grain cast bullets. It doesn't quite reach the top levels that 10mm can reach, but it's not far off. I believe that AA#7, AA#9, 800x, and Longshot are generally considered to be the best powders for the hottest loads.

Those are great reasons to want a 10mm. Options and versatility are nice to have.

The MOS is a great feature if you want optics.

The extra muzzle flip isn't a huge difference or a deal breaker in most situations.

Agreed. I’ve not shot a G40 but I do have a G20 long slide and the muzzle flip is very tame.

Rather than the MOS I had my slide milled for an RMR.

I'm trying to decide between a G40 MOS and milling a G20. The Dan Wesson has a long bbl already & I don't plan on hunting with it so maybe a G20 milled.

Anyone know if the G40 slide is beefier than a G20? I'm wondering if a G40 MOS is stronger than a G20 slide after milling.

The only advantage to the MOS is being able to switch optics if you want to.
