years ago you could get a 'eurorail' pass, take your bike and travel all over europe for the summer...
Luxembourg maybe? Most of our counties are larger than that.Still can though it’s a tad pricey now. Much cheaper to do the one country pass.
I've looong wanted to ride a train, somewhere / anywhere. Hope all goes well.
A friend of mines family farm surrounds the Palestine station. If you really like to hear a rant get him going about The Polar Express messing with his hunting. IIRC 35 different productions have filmed there. If you just want a pleasant couple of hours on a train, the little railroad at Palestine Rusk State Park is well worth the drive. It's all passenger cars pulled by an old steam locomotive (which was used in the opening scenes of "O Brother Where Art Thou") traveling a winding route through the Piney Woods.

Bring your own splints and neck brace. You will be fineWtf? Since I've booked my ticket every day I read about a derailment. I heard the US has had 3 derailments a day for a long time. I know it's one of the news de jure.
Since he’s going to New York, the firearms policy probably doesn’t apply. What is their current firearms policy?

I can't bring guns into NY. I believe on the train it would have to be in the luggage. But again can't bring into NY. NY you have to show a handgun license just to purchase ammo.Since he’s going to New York, the firearms policy probably doesn’t apply.
Nice! I rode from Houston to San Antonio last year, pleasant experience - but, as expected, ran late.Heading back to visit family in upstate NY in June. Thought why not see some of the country side. Should be an interesting journey, sleeping two nights on the train. Any tips from anyone who has traveled by Amtrak? I've watched some YouTube videos people made while traveling.
Average is 3 derailments daily in America, a LOT of freight gets moved here and the safety record is actually stellar.Wtf? Since I've booked my ticket every day I read about a derailment. I heard the US has had 3 derailments a day for a long time. I know it's one of the news de jure.
They use Diesels most of the time, too expensive to run steam. If you just want a pleasant couple of hours on a train, the little railroad at Palestine Rusk State Park is well worth the drive. Check recent Court rulings. . . . . .I can't bring guns into NY. I believe on the train it would have to be in the luggage. But again can't bring into NY. NY you have to show a handgun license just to purchase ammo.

That may have been when it was a money-hemorrhaging state park, it's been operated under contract by private for-profit companies in recent years that have made efforts to improve efficiency and actually turn a profit. That's a pity. When I rode (granted it was about 15 years ago) they were using the steam engine.
