And if you don't have a welding hood, this might be of interest. Supposed to be free, but I did not try the order...Won't need the welding lenses for those few moments when the sun is completely blocked - and in most of Texas on April 8th, it'll be a total eclipse.

Purchased a couple from Amazon, last time all I had was a pinhole viewer.Got a bunch of 'em from Amazon back in October - and used them to look at that partial eclipse at Axxe's shoot'em up that day.
Made a similar filter for my telescope. But that was a couple years ago an don’t trust that it hasnt gotten any small scratches since then and would hate to find out at high magnification.I made a filter for my Nikkon. Bought some solar film off amazon. I then cut it to fit over the lense. Covered it with a $5 uv filter to hold it in place. Have just over $20 in it and enough film left over for several more.
And I ain't trusting those lenses made in China...
You are right, it ain't easy. On a lot of things.Well let me know when you find some that are not made in China or the product used to make it here in the USA did not come from China.
I guess I will rent out the guest room for $900
A guy I work with said that the schools in his area closed for the day since they are predicting around 70,000 people in a town of about 6000Talked to someone with the Bexar Co Emergency Preparedness office today. Now I'm mildly considering closing my office for the day on April 8. The Bexar Co people think traffic and the town will be crazy.
For those of you in the path, are any of your workplaces closing or changing hours?
Good grief. I saw a few others in the thread said they're schools would be closed.A guy I work with said that the schools in his area closed for the day since they are predicting around 70,000 people in a town of about 6000
