other states have moved toward some type of C carry recently
only a handful don't have it in some form
im talking about public carrying of handguns
we are in that group and we shouldn't be
look how big of a fight campus carry was and we still can't get that fufully
the state reps passed a bunch of pro gun bills but what good did any of those do towards advancing our liberty really?

if some of you don't see it that way. that's fine

Something else Vmax missed, Texas is a "Shall issue" state while CA and NY are "May Issue" states, a big difference when you're dealing with a reluctant bureacracy.

I am pretty happy with the availability of CHLs and packing a gun for me is like a poker hand, we wouldn't show our hand to other "players" in case they might be lawless zombie maggots able to sneak up and grab your pistol.

Vmax, the major difference between Texas and the other states you mention is that Texas IS making progress towards more freedom while the other states you mention are increasing the restrictions.

I respect your point of view, but do you believe we should have the choice of how we carry at an individual level?

Show me the law that prohibits it.

Cop tried to say he was carrying in a menacing or threatening manner because some old people on the road he was walking down thought open carry off a loaded rifle was illegal and got scared (especially considering it was a big nasty AR). What he's saying is a precedent had been set by these cops that a certain law can be manipulatively used because of idiots who don't know the law. I think he's still going through the court process on this last time i checked the guys YouTube.

Funny that back in the 19th century the mindset was quite the opposite. It was considered shady to concealed carry back in those days.

tell that to the veteran in Temple who got arrested for it

I lived 37 years in the belton Temple area. What temple has done is jump on the "Broken windows theory". This started years ago when the chief was a sorry californian. He had supposedly been a LT in the LAPD. Thats when they started using a really dumbass, disproved theory.

Working at the Bell county sheriff's office. The most people brought in by any single entity in Bell County. Was Temple PD. They even had to close the city jail, cuz they couldnt hold everyone. So Temple pays Bell co, for service. Belton would arrest 2-4 a week. Temple 3-5 a single night.

I know both officers in the vid. Both are major fallis. Both have long tenure and the mentality that laws are meant to be "bent". All in the line of calling "crime prevention". Temple is extremely aggressive, using broken windows. You're not getting a citation. Your going to jail.

That guy getting arrested? All I can say is, Welcome to Tanglefoot, Texas. Home to some of the biggest fallisheads, in all of Texas..

FYI, the new Bell county jail complex, was a 60million dollar gift from someone in the county. voters said no to the bond. Didnt matter. How'd u like to be able to write a check for 60mil, for a jail? No body knows who did it. Its rumor that Drake McClain popped the funds down. Talk about pull.

And folks say Williamson co is bad.

The saying "calmer heads prevail" comes to mind.

In that situation there were no calmer heads, just two sides trying to prove a point.

The guy didn't go to jail cause he OCed his AR, he went to jail because both sides were intent on proving how right they were.

I will answer when you identify specifically whom you were calling "dummies".

And I also ask you if you would have preferred we not get the changes we did get.

    Here is my first post:
"Embarrassing to say the least We can't get any type of Constitutional Carry when MS and AR, just got it also. There is only a few states now without some form of Open Carry and Texas is in that group that includes CA, IL, NY, and FL . Will we ever see this?"

now, if you are in a group of people on an airplane, you are in that group. Period. This is not saying that you share anything else with those other people, you are are inded in that "group" and you cannot deny that.

Texas is indeed in a small group of states that does not have either some form of OC or CC of handguns. Califonia, NY, and IL are in that same group. It this causes anyone butt hurt, it's not my fault.

now, some people here, took my first post and said that I was saying TX gun laws are like California's. To say I said that, after reading my post, in my opinion is dumb and over-reacting.

I have lived here for 30 years. I love this place. I'm just real dissapointed that with all of our "pro-gun" legislators why we have not moved the needle ahead in this area like other states like MS and AR have done recently. Again, I point out Campus Carry, why has this been such a fight to get passed?

I would not like live in a state where they are passing anti-gun laws, that is why I live here and why I have to ask, why we can't get more meaningful firearm liberties here?

Alaska has a pure form of CC. You can carry a handgun or long gun on you. Concealed or not, without a permit. If you are not a felon and of legal age, not drunk or high, and not comitting a crime, you can have it. Period.

Texas is a gun friendly state, but like I pointed out about what happened to the guy in Temple. If the cops had followed the law, they would have never tried to disarm that guy for "rudely displaying". What kind of a made up BS charge is that?! Nothing , I repeat, nothing should have happend to him for walking down the damn road with an AR strapped to him. Period. He was within the law and he was wronged by LE. But because he didn't roll over on his back for the tyrant, he ended up in jail and lost his gun and it's going to take lawyers and money to get it back.
