How did this happen. Old heads here can recall when i got jamed up.
For carrying a .45 on post. Long story. I thought x-ray was in place.

    Prayers outbound.

    Prayers for all affected.

Guess they need to rethink that whole "gun free zone" military bases

2009 and that crazy Major is still alive! He has been convicted, sentenced to death and still lounges in the brig. Our hesitation to take care of this business only encourages MORE of the same.

But you weren't trying to sneak it in. If you really wanted to sneak it in, how hard would it really be? Even a full x-ray of a car wouldn't be foolproof. Lead vent flashings are available at Home Depot, which would shield a pistol from view in an x-ray.

I'm not going to cover OpSec on the internet, but I WILL say that no matter how much they beef up security, they won't ever make base totally gun free as far as people bringing personal guns on base. I'd be willing to talk about it more in person at the meet. This is just a matter where we're better off allowing people to concealed carry on base. If they need to store them in lockers upon arriving at work-fine. But let these guys carry. It's illogical the way things are now.

But then the lead box stands out like a sore thumb.
Sure there would be ways to sneak something on post, but they can legally be taken on so it is a moot point. Soldiers can keep registered guns on post, in quarters. Apparently they have id'ed him, not sure if active duty.

Well, as of right now, they don't x-ray standard vehicles anyways. Lead box not needed to get an unregistered firearm on base. They have ID'd him, but I don't remember if they said he's active duty.

Yes, channel 10 says an army truck driver. He is the 4th dead.
I haveva brother and several friends that work all over Ft Hood. Hope they were not around. They are still there.
Now they say 14 injured. Sad situation.

X1000. Why the hell do they not let soldiers carry guns? If they did, this could have been stopped in an instant. Another case of a mass shooting where people can't carry.

I'm with you, but they're saying the shooting stemmed from a dispute, so an armed soldier shooting another soldier he'd been arguing with doesn't exactly help the argument. It kind of gives ammo to the other side.
