I never quite understood how anyone, who really enjoys firearms and shooting, could limit themselves to one or two calibers. Yes, maybe for combat but I do most of my shooting for fun and thus have many different guns in various calibers. Much like you, I had guns in limited calibers, three basic calibers at first and one gauge. They were in 22 LR, 9mm and 12 gauge. Then I added a pistol in 25 ACP, and then a revolver in 357, then this, then that, and now I've got pistols in 9 calibers, rifles in 13 calibers (11 if you take off the ones that shoot multiple calibers such as 22S, 22L, 22LR), and shotguns in two gauges. Then again, I just bought a revolver yesterday in 32 S&W and that will add another new caliber for me. The caliber inventory just keeps evolving and usually expanding.
Being prepared for events that can or will happen is entirely different. Keeping your mouth shut is the difference.

How does the average person adequately "prepare" for a Black Swan?
(hint: rhetorical question; nobody can, except maybe time travellers)
I have no idea what you are talking about, so I have no clue where to even begin to prepare for such a thing.
Kinda the point!I have no idea what you are talking about, so I have no clue where to even begin to prepare for such a thing.
That's why you have really good insurance!Kinda the point!
You may have meant it as a rhetorical question but I think you can prepare for anything even a totally unexpected catastrophic situation. How? The same way you prepare for anything else. You prepare for the worst imaginable catastrophe you can think of and do whatever you think (and are able to do) that it would take to help you get through it as far as training, practicing, stockpiling, sheltering and attitude go. When the black swan arrives - you improvise as best you can with what you have. Mindset is a big thing regarding survival, one of the most important if not the most important. Plan for a real Zombie Apocalypse or an actual alien invasion (will they happen - probably not in a million years except on sci-fi television but something as bad may actually take place). If you prepare for them though, then maybe you'll have a chance at shooting down that black swan. How does the average person adequately "prepare" for a Black Swan?

When I read "prepper" info, I see folks preparing for the most unlikely events, ever.
Please consider what the most likely problems may be, then try to be ready for those.
Being elders and living in the country, we fear the violent home invasions which claimed the life of an old friend and are increasing in frequency.
We have extensive defenses against home invaders.
But, our LEO son tells that these criminals now use "Police, Open-Up" as their first notice.

Expensive lesson learned; “FYI”:
“Baby” LEO, multi NRA Instructor, & ATF Liason Officer, went to Nacogdoces for another NRA certification course requiring lots of shooting. After listening to “experts”, I gave him all of my old but EXPENSIVE defensive ammo to shoot up. Hydra-Shocks, Black Talons, Hornady factory rounds, etc. Some was 30+ years old but had been stored properly. Every round performed well. Now I’ve gotta restock. Lesson learned !

Winchester Ranger T is the same thing. Just a new name. You won't be restocking those Black Talons.
Yep, cutting thru kevlar vest since....never.
Boy that whole 90s mess was a bunch of horse shit.
Isn't that essentially what a prepper does? It may be to a lessor degree than some or more than others but it seems you are prepping.
