Paul will have to walk a thin line between bringing in people from the left and the middle and not burning people like me. Should be a fun election. I love me some primaries. Hopefully Cruz and Paul dont attack each other too much.

To the OP...it would serve all candidates well to try and target those they feel they can flip. It is hard to wake people up and get them to see they haven't been voting as they believe on the issues. It is a fundamental hardwired thing in humans brains to support their previous behavior and not see it objectively.

Thats why a lot of relationship problems happen, career mishaps, bad decisions made in survival situations, SNAFUs in the military and on and on. It is hard to confront yourself and say "shit, ive been doing it wrong from day one. There is a better way to do this and here it is."

    RoyO;Tejano Scott,

    EXACTLY SO.

Wendy Davis had but ONE qualification to be the governor of Texas: She was over the minimum age. - For starters, philosophically, she was a combination of BHO & HRC, without the ability of either.

A solid majority of TX voters, quite rightly, understood those FACTS & gave her less than 40% of the popular vote.

Do you have an alternative point to make?

Take some time to actually talk to a Democrat. The previously referrenced cartoon caricature is just that - a bad stereotype, and something that does not apply to all Democrats. A Democrat could equally make a point that the only thing that distinguishes a National Socialist Party member from a Tea Party member is a better pair boots. That would be just as erroneous.

Look at who the democrats ran for Governor.

And I'm a Democrat who voted for Abbot because my party lost their ever lovin' minds on that one. On a national level, as far as Republicans go, who ever thought that tickets which inclued Palin or Romney were gonna be winners lost theirs. So, it kind of evens out. Right now the fringes seem to hold too much sway in either party. Take your pick, either side would throw any of us under the bus if they thought it would advance their political ambitions.

My opinion is based on observations and conversations I've had with democrats. On the whole, most white democrats fall into one or more of these categories (especially if they are under the age of 50): they hate organized religion and act like a GOP ticket is the equivalent of a Muslim Caliphate, they are pro-abortion and feel the GOP is going to take away their sacred right to kill babies, pro-homosexual, pro-welfare and free shit. Believe me, I hate that "cartoon caricature" as well. I wished there were meaningful issues that separate our parties, but there really aren't.

I'm not saying all, but I feel pretty comfortable about that stereotype.

As a kid in Chicago, I worked in a Pizza place and stayed out very late at night. I was rousted by the cops constantly, had my car searched, had the contents of my car trunk and even the back set removed and laid out beside the road. I was searched many times and it wasn't just a "pat down". Those LEO's were intimate and rough!

I'm white. How do you explain that? I thought that only black folks got rousted! The TRUTH is that if you rob stores, wrestle with the cops, do drugs, walk in the middle of the street and hang around looking for trouble.....you'll find plenty of trouble!

I had a student who was going to hold up a store with another kid that I didn't know. They were waiting for the right moment when the cops rolled up. Justin chose to fight it out with a cop and was shot dead for it. Justin was white.

The ONLY reason that we are being pounded by the Obama, Holder, Sharpton types is that they can make political currency out of racial accusations and profit politically or financially from that.

Simply put, if you're out, especially late at night and looking for trouble, then you'll find plenty of shxt to get into! Don't blame the color of your skin for it!

Some good points here. But I have to ask with you being a Democrat and all..... out of the 5-7 states that are Broke, Bankrupt or close to it, whom run those states as a whole/percentage wise politically? Democrats! Can you explain that...... Iam an Ex-Californian born and raised of 40 yrs there, and it IS the INSANE Democrats that literally DESTROYED it. Yes the Repubs hurt it also in various ways, But the Demotards truly killed that state!! You CANNOT keep giving more and more FREE sh-t away "for votes Obviously" and expect the working class to pay for it. It's a model for disaster!!

Democrat party lost me years ago as it moved more left and become the party of radicals, socialist, sadly the media and big business is working to convince the GOP to move left, cheap labor, open borders, the GOP hierarchy seems anxious to do so even after the current win they wish to ignore conservatives. Not sure if we're moving in direction of a third party but it's not looking good, and in my view Rand Paul is not the answer, need a strong leader who is not afraid of the press.

    oldguy,

ImVho, who we need is another HARRY S TRUMAN or RONALD REAGAN.

In 2016, I'm NOT at all sure that either would be able to get their party's respective nomination, as Truman was a retired ARNG COL (and a PATRIOT) & Reagan was a TRUE conservative.

BOTH parties have lurched LEFTWARD & that's a BAD thing for FREEDOM.

The liberal/progressive mindset certainly appear to share a common experience.

At some point, and by attempting to exercise what they perceive to be a superior cognitive ability, an attempt at reason is made (hell, they even have a website by that name).
hang on... Are you saying Reason magazine is a liberal/progressive rag? Bwahahahahahahaha....

Glad Reason was brought up. Been meaning to recommend that to my libertarian friends even though I of course dont support all of it.

Drew Carey did some fun short docs on libertarian/small gov topics too.

    LOL, no.

Remarking upon liberal concept of public reason, failed to use complete terminology, resulting in that misconception. Sorry.
