For the short time that i have been on here i love it. Everybody on here including the Moderators and the Admins seem really nice. Everybody that i have talked to on here seem to be really helpful. I have been on a few other gun forums in the past and i have to say this is the best one i have ever been on.

We're really nice?! Well I'll show you! Now where did I leave that ban stick?! LOL Just kidding. ;)

Thanks for joining us Kyle, and thanks for the compliments. We do our best and just want this to be a fun, friendly place to hang out and learn.

    You mean - like - X rated!?

Sorry. Up at 5AM. ...delirious. Where's the rum?

Yes, another chance to fan the flames a bit and keep spreading that rumor of the supposed, alleged, hidden porn section here that only becomes accessible once you've learned the secret handshake. Yes, alleged, supposed. Or is it? Maybe it's not! Or maybe it is?! Maybe it is alleged?! Who knows, but keep wondering. Is there any better reason to keep posting?! Maybe this is why people are in a rush to get thousands of posts under their belt, in the hopes there is some magical number of posts that may someday open the aforementioned....alleged.....porn section. Maybe, just maybe. You might never know, but go out anyways and get those thousands of posts, and maybe you might know someday, allegedly, supposedly.........

I used to like this site, like to get the Texas legislature news, discuss some gun issues, gain gun knowledge, discuss politics.

BUT, I am OUTTTA HERE. Sadly I am beginning to see why in other parts of the country they call us Redneck HICKS. I go after them when they call us that, but...... there just may be some truth to it.

So far, in the past few days I've seen us all collectively called both too liberal, and too redneck. I've heard people say that we are too rough on others, and others say that we are all men, and need to get tougher skin. Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, ad infinitum, ad nauseaum.

The message I'm taking from this: You just can't satisfy everyone!

I'm staying. I like everyone here, even the ones I disagree with. I think the admins and mods do a fine job of policing the place without turning us into a "police state" site. And I have a lot of fun here.

No one gets banned for expressing an opinion. Hell, we like the different viewpoints. It's what makes the site fun. If we all only liked 1911s and ARs, then there would be nothing to talk about.
People get banned for breaking the rules, plain and simple. Feel free to voice your opinions without fear of repercussion. Just do so in an adult manner.

Lol im a 1911/AR guy... no time for tupperware lol

I recently got to have a discussion with one of our elected officials and told him I was not happy with some of the ways he had voted on some major issues lately. His reply was absolutely dead-on and I appreciated it: I voted the way I think YOU would have IF you knew all the facts. All of a sudden, I felt a little silly because I was criticizing a man that HAD researched the topics and endured many hours of listening to both sides of the issue at hand, before picking a side.

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone here did the same? Criticizing someone that has personal and intimate knowledge, AND knows ALL the facts of a scenario, is wrong. I would never dream of telling my doctor how to treat me. Yes, I demand to have input in his decision but will never pretend I know more than someone that performs a job every day. We can't say that for a few members and even a moderator here, can we? I was recently disgusted by some of the replies given to the thread about the video of an ordeal by law enforcement in Tucson Arizona. While we can view a video of the incident, there were HOURS of behind the scene discussions we were not privy to..... but TGT allowed the criticism and outrage to flow like beer on payday.

I have often said that unless a person has pinned on a badge and professionally dealt with real bad-guys, they should not even get an opinion of how the police handle an incident. I would hazard a guess that the closest most cop-bashers get to an on-duty injury is a paper-cut..... but they can condemn a group of dedicated men and women and feel really proud of themselves for doing it.

I respect a lot of your points however, I fundamentally disagree with the argument that only those that know can judge.... Fine then you better start teaching a lot more. It is that argument that allows a group of people to seclude themselves and abuse power. There have been many incidents where a grew of people with power did bad things, then later claimed that no one else can know the facts but we did the right thing.

Your point raises two distinct arguments:
    1) The need to educate yourself, before making assumptions. I think this is very true and a skill not currently utilized by many people in this country. The internet only makes it worse. It has given everyone a mic and convinced them that they have something to say.

2)The thread in question allowed too much criticism. I will go ahead and freely admit that I am not sure the thread in question, and therefore do not know what was sad. However I can say that determining a level of discourse is very difficult, but should never be disrespectful.

    Just my 2 cents..

So long as the police get paid by the people, then they will be subjected to the will of the people, and thus, be forced to endure the opinion of the people. We are not subjects to be lorded over by whomever picks up a badge and signs the dotted line.

Opinions are short sided, cheap, and generally stupid. Just how it goes. It's a high profile job where everyone you deal with is an expert and a victim.
