He can't really chime in and defend himself and almost all of this is speculation.
It was not my intention to slander the absent. I apologize for my posting.

For those interested, there's some introductory reading here: George Washington and religion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I suggest that anyone wishing to continue along these lines take the discussion elsewhere. I regret having stirred this up and if I post any more thoughts on the subject, they will be in a different forum.

    Again, my apologies.

They were definitely closer to God as a country and culture back then. Ill try to find some of his writings.

BHO's faith? Socialism. He views the Muslims as victims though so sticks up for them.
    I agree.
These people where overwhelmingly professed some sort of allegiance, belief or acceptance of judeo-Christian ideology. But somehow if you believe modern "historians and secularists" , none of these founding fathers professed acceptance to the judeo-Christians ideology.

    It just doesn't add up.

I remember reading something about his church attendance recently. He either went sparingly or not at all if I recall correctly.
That's not unusual for the time. There was a big push at the time to get away from organized religion and more towards personal faith. The majority of the found fathers can be considered Christian. Pretty sure the "deists" considered themselves Christian as well, they just didn't like the idea of a holy trinity. I think Thomas Payne was the only non-religious one.

Interesting distinction. Ive studied the different denominations and theologies going back before Calvin, Zwingli (Jan Huss what!?) but i guess I havent studied the revolutionary period much.

Just to throw this out there. I think most of the founder were also members of the Masonic Lodge.

Leading Masonic authorities in the 18th and 19th centuries held a distinctively Christian interpretation of Freemasonry. Such leaders as Rev. James Anderson, William J. Hughan, William Hutchinson, Rev. George Oliver, and others had a Christian view of their Craft.

Hutchinson, in particular, noted that Jesus Christ was the example for the Master Mason. He stated, "The Master Mason represents a man under the Christian doctrine saved from the grave of iniquity and raised to the faith of salvation. As the great testimonial that we are risen from the state of corruption, we bear the emblem of the Holy Trinity as the insignia of our vows and of the origin of the Master's order."

Awesome Dave. I was just thinking about how freemasonry and 18th century Christianity were related, mixed and practiced side by side by so many of the founders.

Ill have to look up some of those names you listed. Thanks.
