Im only slightly familiar with canadian politics. Canada has what, 1/10th the population of the US? Easier to turn a tugboat than a battleship.
True, but when you consider how Canada's system of government works, the task was daunting. Canada's Senators are appointed for life by the party in power so due to the fact that the Liberal Party has held the reins of government for most of the past several decades, the Senate is full of Liberal hacks who toe the party line and vote down every attempt at moving the country to the right. Further, the leader of the party in power automatically becomes the Prime Minister of Canada so Canada's leader for much of the 20th century was a Liberal. Lastly, great power is concentrated in the Prime Minister's office who simply by an Order-in-Council can do pretty much whatever he wants. Despite these odds, and after a long fight the Reform Party became the Official Opposition and after absorbing the Progressive Conservative party to become simply, the Conservative Party, now leads the country. In reality, the number of voters who need to support the TEA Party is admittedly much greater, but the percentage is the same: 51%.

In the most recent French election the National Front came in first with 25% of the vote. So anything is possible. Just have to avoid full blown socialism or a fascist reactionary takeover while trying to work for reform.

... and i am not Christian, and ?
And nothing. George Washington wasn't Christian, either, and you don't see people around here smearing his legacy.

As much as we like to argue, sometimes it's nice to just appreciate that we're all among friends who basically get along.

    Basically. Not completely... :)

I don't get that, have you read some of the prayers from George Washington?

I don't know how you say those things without a devout belief in God.

Belief in God doesn't mean a person is a Christian. Heres a trip. The devil believes there is a God.

From what I understand a lot of the founding fathers were "deists".

Go read his stuff. It's not something a non-Christian would say. Who knows maybe he had good writers.

    But I doubt it...

I've never really studied it but apparently its been highly researched. From what I can tell he would be considered or considered himself a Christian. Maybe it was Jefferson that was a deist? I know it was a "thing" back then. Lots of talk about divine providence and natures God.

Guys can we leave out one of the most famous founding fathers. He can't really chime in and defend himself and almost all of this is speculation.

Go read his stuff, his benedictions. It really speaks for itself.

Then compare it to people like nancy, Hilary and obama. When they make their overtures to the religious judeo Christian community.

The difference between the 2 is stark.

Look at American culture, even obama felt it politically necessary to attend church. And feign a Christian belief...

They were definitely closer to God as a country and culture back then. Ill try to find some of his writings.

BHO's faith? Socialism. He views the Muslims as victims though so sticks up for them.
