Where will you mount the flashlight and red dot?

    There you go. Scout style.

I would have gone with the 300. Although the 338 is neat it just doesn't offer that much more to justify the jump in component and abuse.

I had limited myself to this particular rifle and looked for used. I haven't seen a .300 WM on the used market in this model (in the areas that I look). I don't think they sell well to begin with honestly.

The .300 and .338 in this model sell new for $2000+/-. If you are looking in that price range the ammo/ componant cost is a minor factor.

Plus I like different. It all just kinda fell together for me on this deal.

The cool factor is definitely there. What's typically entertaining is that most don't realize that it really doesn't hold a advantage over the 300 except with the 300gr hybrid. Which is a large factor in why our boys revamped to 300 instead of the Lapua.

Either lapua sure does sound neat.

    Hows it go....

Thats the kinda rifle. You just open the gate and shoot. ~Then~ you go look for the deer.

Yup. Gotta get it all set up for deer season. My relatives think they need a .300/ 7mm Mag to shoot 100 pound deer at 70 yards. Boy are they going to feel undergunned.

Guess this scope rail has to stay for now. The screws are bigger than a standard 110 rail mount. Guess that makes sense.

Need some taller rings though. The scope clears but the flip up cover doesn't.

A little mock up with the rings I have though.

Awesome!! Nice use of funds. "Just because" is always a good reason in my book when it comes to firearm purchases.

I bought the rifle used with 300 rounds of mixed factory ammo for a screaming deal ....

You mean like 2 / 300 dollars? Maybe I should get one too.

It's pretty rare I'm jealous of others purchases, this is one of those times. Enjoy it.
