And if the park or Corps land get boring, a short ride (heavy sarcasm) to WallyWorld for some ammo a few times a month will definitely keep it from getting totally boring.

Honestly wish I could still pedal one of those, I'd join ya' in a second.

It's nothin fancy, but should hold together long enough for me to cut my teeth and see what is important to me before making a big investment.

Lol, gonna be a while before I attempt anything like that.

I was thinking how cool it would be to rig up a kayak trailer for a bike. Pedal put to the paddling grounds.

A seat first, as I recall. And some new hand grips were the first I changed on my last bicycle. Other stuff came, and went, as not needed.

Looks like it'll work as a demo/testing ride.

I noticed today that the grips tend to slide out about 1/4" while I'm riding and messing with the gears.

Already picked out a better seat but gonna hold off on it for a little bit.

Not sure what the monkey bike is, does it come on tactical black with red accents?

I like me some Surly bikes. I had their touring bike, the Long Haul Trucker.

Currently has zero bikes, need to get back to it.

Hope the bike bug bites you.

Surly makes good bikes for sure.

Or you can spend >$200 for an all-steel Trek from the early 90s, something like a 970 which was made in the U.S., had better components, and was made of much higher grade steel than the new Surlys which are made in Taiwan.

Suppose so. My Surly was a custom job I bought used, hand built wheels, Mr Whirly crank, Chris King headset and so on. Miss that bike. Need to get back into riding.

Bike and canoe in 2015! No more guns!

Sounds like a good ride. The Surlys are definitely more compatible with newer headsets, wheels and so on. They definitely are some of the best made for the price these days. Unfortunately, Trek sold out, kind of like S&W :). Nothing like a hand built, lugged, all-steel American made bike like Treks and others, though.

I did 6 miles on the bike Sunday (2 rides) and 4 miles Monday. Went pretty well.

Didn't have time to get out yesterday but did about an hour of strenuous activity. Raining today, we'll see what happens.

I'm not talking about bulking up or training for marathons. Just methods of gaining and maintaining generally good fitness levels that don't involve boring hours at the gym.

Opinions on walking, jogging, biking, biking on trails at the state park, etc.

I'm easily bored by most fitness activities and considering some fun ways to get off my butt.

    Gym is boring? :)

I have been lifting with mu seventy yo attending ( whom kicks my butt).

I actually have put on some muscle in the last several months. Need to add some cardio.

Problem is that 99% won't lose weight with exercise. They don't burn enough calories that can't be outdone by a soda or two. Calorie restriction is e only way.

Yup, gym is uber boring, lol.

Getting in shape doesn't necessarily mean weight lose or bulking up.

I'm gonna take a stab at the OP topic.

Not overweight, not underweight, not flabby (yet).
Just wants to be in better condition. Stamina.
Sitting in a truck don't make you gain weight, but it'll make you soft.

Exercise the heart and lungs. I think that's younggun's goal.
    Could be wrong.
