There is no way to make Obama care palatable and O has said he would veto any attempts to do so.

They are supposed to be rushing some bills to get people paid, O has said he would veto them. That puts him on the losing side of things.

They have blamed conservatives for not compromising and O has said in the last few days that he WILL NOT compromise. They are forcing him to show his colors and taking a stand.

    Sometimes the fix is painful.

So far, I haven't noticed it.

On the news, they said the shut down is costing the tax payers billions. I don't understand how not paying federal employees and curtailing services can cost the tax payers anything. Seems like they would be saving money.

    The shutdown hasn't hurt me.
I have friends that are federal types and they are going in "without pay" but have also made it clear that the income will not necessarily be lost as they will get paid later. They are between paydays right now so they have not felt any loss of income yet (key word..."yet").

they've already signed a bill to pay us for our "vacation"

so yeah - i dont know how many millions that is - but the taxpayer is going to pay us for sitting at home for "x" number of days

also factor in all the business the government does on a daily basis - that isnt getting done....there's a cost there

The only thing to keep in mind is bigger government equal less freedom, our government has grown far too large and as it grows it becomes more dangerous. With less then half our population actually working it becomes more difficult to feed those who don't and that includes government who do not turn out a marketable product. At some point the system breaks down as we hire more government workers at higher salaries while civilian salaries are lower, in time it simply fails. I draw these conclusion after nearly 50 years in the work place both civilian and government.

Not to mention the libiturds ranting and raving that it's all the fault of the Republicans. From what I've seen, the House, the part of the government that DETERMINES SPENDING BILLS, sent a funding bill to the Senate that funded EVERY government operation. The only thing missing was funding for Obuttfuckcare. The Damnocrats declined to pass the funding bill because of the lack mentioned.

So, who IS responsible for the shutdown???

Obama is throwing the classic socialist-democrat temper tantrum (Alinsky-style): Lie to the ignorant voting masses and blame the Republicans for the shut down. If the Republicans were smart, they would also de-fund the salaries for all "non-essential" government employees.

The shutdown has not bothered me. I am fed up over the coverage of it especially since the House voted to reimburse lost wages. What is the point if that money is spent anyway?

I'm stockpiling pork rinds and that box wine in case there is a run on them later. I'd stock some canned beer, but granny always get drunk and smashes the empties on grandpa's forehead.

Well the national seashore is shut down. And they turned off the noaa website. But I wasn't gonna go fishing this weekend anyway...

As for the jk opinion. Speaking purely from a political science perspective.
I think it's playing well for the republicans. Because you have Harry Ried saying he doesn't care about kids with cancer.
You have stories about police harassing vets. And a buncha stories about the gubbermint being all around jerks. Then you have the party of "tolerance and reach around the isle" saying no negotiations.

I work for a research program funded mostly by federal dollars from the NSF. I haven't been affected directly yet but could be if the shutdown persists. We'll see.

Earlier i said the Republicans need to make it about the debt and i think they should. Additionally though, they need to repeat that they will negotiate and compromise as it makes the Dems look entirely ridiculous.

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.

I think they all look ridiculous, this is a reflection of dysfunctional leadership in Washington as a whole. As much as I'd love to agree with your statement the problem is that the lame stream media is force feeding the liberal propaganda to the masses. The debt ceiling issue is a very hot topic especially considering what's going on right now, it'll be very interesting how things shake out.
