    Interesting and insightful thoughts.

It seems to me that the critical move will be to find GOP candidates that address those issues that are driving centrist voters toward the socialist end of the spectrum. The Hispanic American population clearly is becoming a pivotal force in that regard. =QUOTE]
I cut your post a bit in interest of keeping the pace short. I agree and you are directly on the mark. I do not know if you looked around the state at not just state but local elections. there were probably a hundred positions that only had a Democrat candidate running for that spot. That is something that will make a huge difference in years to come. We need to get a Republican on every election position.
We also need to get Republicans to man the polls. At least here in Austin, many of the poll positions were seated by Democrats for Republican poll watchers judges etc. I can not prove it, but I do suspect that given that, it would not surprise me to discover that there was a voting irregularity in those polling places in favor of the "D".
This science of electing people and how to work the electorate is not lost on the Dems, sadly the Republicans seem to miss the mark here.

I work in an industry where we supply products to the general public for new home construction.
I bet on any given day half my incoming calls are from out of state area codes...trans plants building here & still have their old #.

Storm chaser's still here from Harvey?

Been waiting for four months to get subs and crews (ones I employed for years before retiring in 2016) just to get the foreman's house refreshed on my Mom and Dad's ranch before listing for a probate sale.
    Still waiting ...

As much as i hate to say it but Texas may become BLUE with all the out of state transplants we have been getting the last decade. We have lower housing prices, greater emplyment rates, no state tax & more than enough corporate breaks to have companys come here, just too many benefits to move here once your state is F'd up.
A friend of mine says we should pass a law for new transplants coming into Texas.
"if you want to vote in Texas, you must be here for 5 years before you can vote so you can see how we do things. There is a reason your leaving your F'd up state, don't come here & F up ours".

Even with the advantage Sallie Mae has I doubt the private sector would step up. They like to get paid. No way in hell that some bank is going to loan $100k to some dewy eyed kid who wants a degree in gender studies.

And there is something wrong with that?? Makes good business sense to me. Get the government out and educational lending will change dramatically. It wouldn't hurt to thin out a bunch of those degree mills either.

An entire generation of youngsters, purposely put into economic servitude in order to make liberals out of them.

Nope ... these are transplant homeowners buying & building new homes... not storm chasers.

Oddly enough, I think Texas is kissing cousins of New York!

We once sold a gun on Gunbroker. I put in the comments "If you're from California, New York, ... don't bother bidding. Move to a free state." I didn't want to have to know the local laws and if it was legal to ship a gun there etc.

So a dealer from NY called me and said it was a good laugh. He then said, "Just thought you should know most of NY, like almost all of it, is conservative. We love the outdoors, guns, hunting, etc. It's just that 10mm people on a little sliver of an island dictate how it is to the rest of the entire state."

If you look at Texas, you think "Southern, conservative, gun and Bible lovers, etc." But the entire Harris County went blue in the last election. They even elected a 27 year old know-nothing to replace a well-respected by both parties county commissioner. Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio (and every Mexican border county) went blue. The rest is red. And we almost lost Cruz to Beto.

So I'm guessing Texas and NY are similar in that the state political makeup will be dictated to by the metropolitan areas. Texas could easily go blue.

Also, realize, that much of the mass exodus from CA and NY toward TX means we may be getting some more liberals here. Not everybody left over bad politics. Some companies closed or moved. As tech booms near Austin, they tend to recruit young socialists that would normally be found in San Jose.

It's like the Mexicans. They want to leave an oppressive, poor country to come to America...and then wave the Mexican flag and want us to be like Mexico (or Venezuela (Che shirts) or Cuba (Castro).

If we're lucky, the 2020 census will give Texas and other southern states more electoral votes AND take them from NY and CA. Then, if we can just stay red, we may have more pull.

I see a lot of people blaming people moving in but in my opinion most of these people are moving here to escape liberal ideology. My strong belief is that the major contributor of our great state turning blue is the socialist teachings going on in universities by so many lifelong academics who've never put in a hard day's work or run a business in their lives. They turning young kids into socialists (however, much of the blame goes to the parents of these kids who didn't give them a common sense, conservative upbringing). My kids made it through but I heard stories of some of these professors and one of my kids went to what most people would think is the largest conservative university in the state. I wish I had an answer for this problem though.

I’ve read the same argument for California. San Fran and the Los Angeles basin are the liberal bastions, while all the “inland” farming and ranching agriculture areas are supposedly “conservative”. Personally, I’m not sure I buy into that, all that much. There may be *some* truth to it but nevertheless, the reality is the {apparent} minority haven’t found a way to have their voices heard on a statewide level. Maybe they need to split their Electoral College votes so it’s not “winner take all” like a couple of other states have done. (Yeah right,.... what are the chances of that happening?)

I see a lot of people blaming people moving in...

From 2006 - 2017, six (6) million people left CA.

More came to Texas than any other state.

    https://www.sandiegouniontribune.co...thy-people-per-report-20180221-htmlstory.html

The second and further order effects the impact of these moves (run for office, school board, political engagement, etc) over a decade are exponential, considering most of these people relocate to one of 3 urban areas in Texas.

One future result could be that the cultural divide that exists between rural and urban Texas deepens, while more conservative folks continue to relocate from the urban/suburban areas to the exurbs.

I suppose that until Republicans grow a pair and start to support enforcing the laws already on the books, we will get bluer and bluer. If fact, I believe that this may be conservatives last chance to hold on to the republic, but thanks to Romney, Flake, and the rest of the fake conservatives, it's too late now. More and more illegal votes are counted, never challenged, and kiss it goodbye...

Notice how the dems love the electoral college when it works for them and then scream about our guy losing the popular vote and is therefore illegitimate. Similar to how they all supported the wall when it was Obama's thing and now they hate it because it's not their guy proposing it. Maybe we should all support gun control, abortion, and socialism. Box them in. Their number one priority is to disagree with and obstruct Republicans. They'd have nowhere to go.

While we focus on the obvious infiltration of liberalism in the big cities and on the political scene, these people are busy filling vacant teaching and school administrative positions wherever they can. California is the result of 30 years of determined efforts by the leftists to populate the K-12 system with socialist teachers while they took over the school boards due to apathy by the voting public. The result is three generations of students who have been taught perverted versions of U.S. and World History and who have been steeped in leftist propaganda which makes them easy for the media to influence. I tell everyone that it is their duty to go to the local schools every 3 years and ask to see the textbooks being used to teach history at up the 12th grade level. If you see something you don't like, share it with friends and neighbors and then show up at the next school board meeting. This is how they will turn the state blue, but doing it through the kids behind our backs. Just look at some of the crap coming out in the news that involves teachers in DFW, Austin, and Houston. Most of those teachers are from out of state and have come here for one specific reason....to change the way our children are being taught.
