    Welcome to Texas.

Make sure, upon leaving California, to take a good shower to remove and leave California dirt and grime.

And Dust your boots before coming in.

No offense but can you stop the knee-jerk comments that assume every person moving from CA is an anti-gun liberal or RINO?

I came here with good intentions. Neither response in this thread makes me want to participate in this forum any further.

    Maybe you should

Might want to read up on "How To Make Friends and Influence People"... the above is IMO not a great way to make new friends.

Consider that the phrase "Leave Cali stupidity behind" is generic and is good advice not meant to personally say anything about you. Didn't need to be taken that way. Too sensitive about your Cali origins IMO.

As one living in the failed state of Oregon, I realize how most other places, esp in the West, are viewed by proud and independent Texans. But heck, even Eastern Oregonians have a hate on for Cali transplants... best advice is to not take it personally. I myself have been here on TGT for about a year, and still consider myself to be a guest.

You will probably encounter much more harsh feelings about Cali on this forum. Better get a thick skin real soon. Most Texans do. And don't make fights when they ain't necessary. And stop advertising you are moving from Cali, you may be happy, and some Texans will be happy to have another 2A advocate, but most will remain skeptical til they get to know you. Change your friggin screen name if you don't want to draw negative thoughts.

Getting butthurt is not a good start!!!

…Saying "actions have consequences" without giving any clear examples isn't helpful….
Since I wrote that bit, here’s the spectrum of consequences.
    1. Nothing
    2. Passerby or somebody at the NM rest stop just across the highway calls in a man with a gun and nothing happens.
    3. LEO responds to the call and stops you, conducts and investigation and lets you go without a warning
    4. LEO stops you and charges you with violating TPC 42.08 (a) (8)

CHAPTER 42. DISORDERLY CONDUCT AND RELATED OFFENSES

    Sec. 42.01. DISORDERLY CONDUCT.

    (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly:

    (8) displays a firearm or other deadly weapon in a public place in a manner calculated to alarm;

    5. You fight the charge in court and win

    6. You fight the charge and lose. This is a Class B misdemeanor and results in a disqualification from TPC 46.02 Permitless Carry. You may lose eligibility for an LTC and may have any existing TX LTC suspended or revoked.

Somewhere in that list of things is what may happen. There could be other outcomes as well. You have to judge for yourself if the risk is worth the reward.

    Out here by the lake!
The wife’s niece & nephew are leaving Commiepornia once they finish school. They were Army kids and that’s where they landed. My advice to the nephew get rid of the Cali vehicle plates fast. Change your drivers license just as fast. If asked were your from say a turd world shit hole. Never mention how things were done there. Don’t expect to find state & federal land to play on.

The nephew was born in Texas and served in the Army too. I have no doubt he will assimilate and do well. I don’t know much about the niece, but got the felling she’s crazy. After her dad divorced her mom it came out.

Texas ain’t no nanny state. The big cities cater more to the drones so if you need that nanny shit move there. The op chooses a screen name that most says he ain’t letting go. Moving to DFW might not be to hard on him. Plenty of idiots pull stupid stunts in the cities

    Ain't letting go?

Seems to me, he might have chosen that screen name because he was proud to be leaving Cali.

Over the past some odd months, this board seems to have gotten really quick to assume the worst of newcomers.

It’s more a about moving forward & assimilation! He is choosing Texas to get away from what his dislikes about where he is leaving.

Let’s review what most newcomers have had to say!
I can’t find no place to shoot for free!
Y’all don’t know how to drive!
    Property taxes suck!
    Y’all are ignorant hicks!
I want to sell a gun here, but don’t like your rules!
I want to know your advice, but only if it’s the same as mine!
I want to hunt on your property, but you don’ know me.
It’s to far between here & there!
I want to do things that I wouldn’t dare back home, why can’t I get away with it here?
I miss the smell of human feces everywhere!
I support the Hollyweird agenda, why don’t y’all?
Tent cities are not so bad!
I would vote to re elect Nasty Piglosi if she was on the ballot!
Global warming is why we have forest fires!
No one needs to eat beef! Cattle farts contribute to global warming!
    Straws are bad!
    Burning fossil fuels are evil!
    Look another beautiful wind turbine!
You state water resources are ours!
Actors & sports figure know what’s best right after politicians!
But I was earning a union wage out in Cali!
I take a knee in support of less police.

So, you are ashamed of OUR state? Sounds like the obammers

How’d you misread me that badly? I’m proud of keeping Texas friendly. I’m a multi-generation Texan and we’ve dealt with carpetbaggers and the like in our history and survived and this guy who wants to take a picture at the border with his rifle sounds more to me like Davy Crockett and all the “immigrants” who founded the state than the whiny old guys pre-judging him.

'Top of the hill, Kerr County!
I'm finally making the move from Kommiefornia to Texas! Plan is to enter via I-40. I want to park my car by the side of the road and pose with a black rifle next to the "Welcome to Texas" sign:

I know that carrying a loaded rifle is legal in Texas as long as you're not using it to threaten someone. Are there any other legal concerns I should be aware of? e.g. Would I be considered disturbing the peace if drivers from blue states/cities or fudds see me and report me to the police?

I imagine that out there if I told the local police during a stop that I am moving from California and bringing all my firearms, and show them my LTC, they would be very happy. I just want to double check here to make sure.
Welcome to Texas and Texas Gun Talk! Generally, Texas has lots of friendly folks. And there really are a lot of friendly ones on this forum (sometimes you have to look hard to find them, but they are here).

And exactly which of those things did this newcomer say?

Neither of those makes you "Pro-Gun".

Lots of folks have both and work against gun rights. We have LTC instructors who fought PLC.

So that excuses y’all’s prejudice and presumptions that he’s not pro gun? Before we start criticizing the newcomers perhaps we need to actually deal with our in-house problems with this kind of energy! Like the LTC types you mentioned. Let’s get a name and shame thread going with as much energy as you’re pushing against this dude from California.
