I agree with Vaquero; not only Cornyn and Cruz but I’ve also communicated with my House member (Sam Johnson).

One thing everyone should have learned about Trump by now. Pay less attention to what he says and more attention to what he does.

And remember, the White House does not pass legislation.

We are paying attention to what he does and he has fully embraced gun control. Only thing a man has at the end of the day is his word. When he said that he’d ban bump stocks through executive order. He broke his word. Only positive thing I can see about that is that it would be easier to reverse than if it was voted into law.

And what he did was tell Feinstein to add the AWB to the Fix NICS bill. So something that we did not have to fight yesterday, we have to fight now/

Too bad the gun community did say "**** you no bump stock ban, no soup for you ever". Maybe we woulds not be here today.

Nope, but the WH can “sponsor” legislation, lobby for legislation and sign legislation into law. Trump is also the head of the GOP, so he is technically speaking for the GOP in support for civil rights violations.

Ill judge based on actions, rather than words, but in this case he just yelled fire in a theater that wasn’t on fire, so I’m ok with him getting his pecked verbally slapped by his constituents. He just encouraged the RINOS to act more like RINOS. Think about that. Instead of controlling the RINO contingent, he encouraged them to sell out more.

Maybe his greatest achievement will end up being the death of the GOP. To a degree I might be ok with that.

There might be a 0.000001% chance that adding an AWB to the fix NICS bill could just be the poison pill for both. But given that he just encouraged the RINO’s with that statement, I’m not going to hold my breath.

This is the best case scenario. So much anti-gun is in bill it is DOA. Two weeks ago Reciprocity was moving successfully through Congress, now it is DOA.

    From linked article.
    "
After Trump's made-for-cable meeting at the White House with bipartisan members of Congress, Texas Republican John Cornyn, a leader on gun issues in the Senate, seemed to scratch his head.

"I think everybody is trying to absorb what we just heard," Cornyn told reporters. "He's a unique president, and I think if he was focused on a specific piece of legislation rather than a grab bag of ideas, then I think he could have a lot of influence, but right now we don't have that."
