    …off to the dealer.

The sales manager is a member on another forum I’m a mod in, he will get me to the front of the service queue.

But he said dealing with these on warranty is gonna take a few days at the least just to do the tear down and get approvals.

I’m sooo over CA and this road trip, we’re driving home Friday one way or another, in a rental if we have to.

We have rental reimbursement coverage, so the San Diego leg of our trip is still gonna happen.

The big question is gonna be how the hell I get Suburban home.

    Will they transport it?
Will I have to fly out here and drive it back?
    Stay tuned…
Sell it for Commiefornia bucks and get a new Texas 'Burban.

Everyone is still sick as shit.

To add insult to injury…transmission is toast.
It’s still under warranty and we have roadside assistance.

We’re at this Airbnb for one more night before heading to San Diego, I guess I’ll be putting “trip interruption assistance” to the test.
That's really a double whammy sorry for you guys.

One way rentals like that are expensive. They double the cost in one way fees. Or at least they did when I moved to Texas.

But that's been over a decade plus a couple years.

Probably the 8 speed. I dont think they started using the 10 speed trans until the current generation, so 2020 or there abouts

Been there done that, lol. In '82 - was pulling a loaded 5x8 from NE to MT... and the wind flipped it just outside of Wheatland WY; I was pulling it with a....

paint chipped gold '69 LeSabre I'd bought at Weird Wally's for $500 bucks. It was the screwdriver that opened the trunk through the hole that made the sale.

Not surprising about the wind. Most times I’ve driven between Cheyenne and Wheatland I’ve seen at least one vehicle / trailer flipped over.

@pronstar is that the 10 speed tyranny Ford and GM developed together? I hate that thing.
    It’s the 6L80 6-speed.
    It basically replaced the 4L60.

It’s been around for a while and the main shortcoming - shitty torque converter - is front and center. It starts to go, fills the case with crap, clogs the pump then failure.

I posted about replacing it in my Silverado about a year ago. That truck is not under warranty, and once I noticed something was amiss, I put a new torque converter in, before I was on the hook for an new transmission.

The suburban is under warranty and I’ve been noticing some slippage, but all I could do is wait for it to fail.

On my last one way rental, it was more expensive to drop off in Texas due to the large number of one way rentals to Texas. Probably not many rentals going to CA!

Is any of this covered by the car warranty?
    Yeah they’ll be paying.

But they first need to tear-down the tranny, diagnose and approve the repairs, before they approve the rentals.

In the interest of our sanity and keeping this trip moving, I’m not waiting around…

So I’ll be hitting them up about it toward the end of the week.
