About a few weeks ago, I traded into a Walther PDP. It came with a red dot, Holo sun something or other. I was able to take it out last week to the indoor range alongwith a Glock 35 converted fully to 9mm that I had yet to fire. The G35 has new sights, new stock trigger and 9mm ejector and a conversion barrel: https://www.ebay.com/itm/314066341177 Its an awesome barrel and good seller on ebay.
The Holosun has a eotech type reticle, basically a donut reticle. Being my first time ever shooting a red dot on a pistol, it took me a minute to get use to it. I found myself focusing on how much it was moving since I am more of a rifle shooter, I was fighting that quite a bit when I got started. This is definitely something that is going to require some re-training for me.
Anyways, I settled into it and it started working out pretty well for me. The biggest thing throwing me off is that the Walther has one of these triggers installed: https://waltherarms.com/dynamic-performance-trigger-black/ Man that is a hell of a trigger. Way nicer than what I am use to which is a 4-5 pound staple gun trigger on my Glocks. So switching back from the PDP to the G35 was messing me up. I think if I was use to the PDP trigger id be able to shave the nuts off a mosquito with it.
It doesn't make much sense to me, but I prefer the shitty Glock trigger. I am so use to the same trigger pull being on all my other pistols that the PDP trigger was almost too nice. Now I know I could drop Glock, switch to Walther but that would cost way too much money for me. I think I am going to wait before I make any rash decisions until I can shoot some steel as I have a feeling that the red dot is going to be perfect for more realistic shooting.
Jury is still out on red dots. I had fun but I think I shot my iron sights just as good if not better and iron sights dont cost $400-500.
Shots were all at 10-15 yards at a fairly rapid pace. Top one is G35, bottom is PDP with Holosun
