    Not a lawyer but this is my understanding:

    No paperwork required if you are NOT a licensed dealer, which you must not be, otherwise you would not be asking what paperwork is required.

    However, the federal govt has seen fit to regulate firearm interstate commerce, so you have to use a dealer to broker any sale across state lines (resident to non-resident). Put simply, if you are a TX resident and you sell to another TX resident (which you have no reason to believe is a felon, drug user, spouse beater, or mental defective), then verify their residency (valid DL or carry permit) then take the money.

    Here is the Texas code and condensed version (Note: if you are a licenced dealer, then there is paperwork):
    Disclaimer, read the laws yourself and make a determination on your own. I am not an attorney and do not play one on tv.

    Texas residents must be at least 18 years old to purchase rifles, shotguns, and ammunition, and residents must be 21 years old to purchase a handgun.

    Texas Law Sec. 46.06. The Unlawful Transfer of Certain Weapons outlines restrictions regarding the private sale of guns and weapons. It states that a person commits an offense if they:
    • Knowingly sell to a person who intends to use the weapon unlawfully;
    • Knowingly sell to a person younger than 18 years old;
    • Knowingly sell to a person who is intoxicated;
    • Knowingly sell to a person who cannot legally own a firearm. For example, those with a felony conviction cannot own a firearm until five years after their release from jail or supervised release.
    Here is a link to the full Texas code: Linky

    And Federal law for selling a handgun to a juvenile 922(x) Linky:

    (x)(1) It shall be unlawful for a person to sell, deliver, or otherwise transfer to a person who the transferor knows or has reasonable cause to believe is a juvenile-

    (A) a handgun; or

    (B) ammunition that is suitable for use only in a handgun.

    (2) It shall be unlawful for any person who is a juvenile to knowingly possess-

    (A) a handgun; or

    (B) ammunition that is suitable for use only in a handgun.
